Donovan is great but Gauge is a rough name to give a newborn (unless its a surname). Try another name along those lines but less like a measurement. A name like Jacob or Alexander wouldn't be half bad.

I think that the way you spelled Donavin was good since I have never seen it spelled that way but I agree with Amy with Gage instead of Gauge. It just looks better.

I like the name. I'm puzzled by the spelling.
Donovan Gage is great.
Donavin Gauge is a life time of "no, no, it's Donavin with an i. No, not D-i-n, it's D-o-n-a-v-i-n."
Why do that?

I like Donavin, don't care as much for Gauge, but if I was using Gauge, I would definitely spell it Gage.

Better to stick with the traditional spelling with this one...and change the middle name
Donovan Gage
I don't care for the name gauge/gage Fuel Gauge? Water Gauge? Rain Gauge? Broad Gauge? the list is endless and its just not a name for a person)
What about
Donovan Alexander
Donovan James
Donovan Isaac
Donovan Zane
Donovan Oliver

To be honest, the spelling is awful. The name is great however. You know, spelling the child's name that way will cause him to have to correct people all the time when it comes to the spelling. It's annoying.
I know you want to be different, but YIKES --> Gauge? Reminds of a Gauze pad.

I don't care for it at all. First of all his whole life he is going to have to spell it out for people. Second, if you where a guy would you want this name? And, if you like Don or Donny, cause that's probably what people are going to be calling him.

Donavin would be fine if it was spelled correctly (Donovan). Gauge is awful........if you were going for Gage (slightly better but not by much), you spelled it way wrong.

Do you really mean 'Gauge'? as in, a measure, pronounced gage? Not George? which is a name meaning 'farmer'? I gave my son a name after I met him; then I saw what name suited him.
Usually Donovan, too.. me personally (which has to be pretty irrelevant to you, but you asked) I don't like it, I think because I don't care for the music of the 60s pop singer Donovan.
Each to his own taste works well...
