I quit smoking and drinking a little over a week ago now, and I was absolutely crazy for a few days, but am feeling much more in control now.

however, life seems so tasteless now. Dont have the enthusiasm i once had before.

the reason I quit smoking and drinking is it got to the point where it wasnt making me feel any better, only worse after, so I knew i had reached the bottom. so better to regain my health and save my money.

Thanks for your answers!

Thats a good thing that u realised that it's bad for ur health & it takes a lot of will-power to quit something like smoking or drinking.... You are not used to be without these things thats why u are feeling like that but stay strong & dont allow urself to go back on the same lane again... Meanwhile you can use ur time for ur own wellness by exercisicing & doing some social works... U'll feel better once u get into a good routine for urself... Good luck man

Why does life feel so empty and boring now without cigarettes and alcohol??

Could it be that you are an empty and boring person?
There is much more to life than drinking and smoking, I feel really sorry for anyone who needs either to feel good about themselves.

I hope you are having some help with quiting, or you will go right back to it. You have to find the positives and don't think about the negatives. You can only go up from here. The problem is that most people use alcohol as a way to hide, from real life. I hope you can face it straight on and do some good. It is a long road, but such a good journey when you see how good life can really be if we work at making it better. And it is work.

You are going through a normal detox phase. You have just past one on the worst points in your road to desintoxication. You are doing great.

You body, specially the brain, received many chemical substances that altered and gave it artificial stimulants and depressants. Now, it has to regain its equilibrium and the normal level of an awful lot of chemical substances, and that is not easy, nor fast. No wonder you have felt and do feel as you describe. But it will be transitory. Soon, but slowly, you will feel better, much better. (Be prepared to go through ups and down though).

Time and a healthy life style will do the trick. Do not give up, life will get much better and will not seem dull or anything like that.
You need to be strong and persistent, but the end results are worth the effort.

Take care and good luck to you.

I felt the same when i quit. However, you will get over it.
It is better to be heathy and live longer than to overdose your body with harmful substances that can lead you to death.Congratulations for quiting.Always remember that drinking and smoking was making you feel worthless after all.Make new friends who dont drink and smoke,go to the gym,the park etc.But dont forsake your old friends that drink and smoke. It is not a sin to drink and smoke but the side effects we get from the same are health harzards.Takecare.

Find a new pleasure in life, one that's not harmful to your health...... the odd bar of chocolate, or some great sex will make you feel good.
