Well it isn't usually safe to even use one flea collar - certainly do not use two!! Seriously, think about it - the stuff in flea collars does not spread through the skin. Collars only ward fleas away from the neck area, they are completely useless.
Frontline and Advantage are excellent treatments. So are Revolution and Advocate. The likelihood is that you have a severe infestation in your house, and need to get a proper flea spray from your vets, as well as regular use of one of the above spot-ons.
I find it highly ironic that you don't want to try Frontline, which is probably the safest flea treatment out there, but are actually considering using two flea collars. As if one isn't bad enough!!

as everyone else stated - and some very well - flea collars are a waste of time. they might kill the fleas around the neck but do nothing for any other part of the body. They are also known to be very dangerous. They have been around forever yes, but it takes a lot of direct cause action to get something removed as a 'safe' pet product.
I can highly recommend both frontline and advantage for cats. However, you must make sure you get them from a reliable source. Both manufactures ONLY sell to vets, and prohibit these vets from selling to secondary markets. Because of this there has been some issues with counterfiting. To ensure you get a safe and effective product talk to your vet.

Flea collars are worse for you and your cat than they are for fleas. Cats have extremely sensitive livers. The liver is what has to deal with the chemicals on that collar. You know how you see your cat licking itself to be clean? Well that is the biggest reason not to do this to your cat. Fleas have to be attacked from all angles. Home, yard, cat. Sorry but flea hormones like Frontline and Revolution are the absolute most effective (not to mention simple and safe) ways to do the "pet" part of the war. For home, I used the flea hormone "Ectokyl" every 4 months. It was annoying and took a lot of time, but we didn't have fleas, and I couldn't even do the yard part.

Flea collars are ineffective at best. They may kill a flea if it lands on the collar, but that's it.
What's wrong with Frontline?
Contact the vet and ask about Capstar. It's an oral medicine that kills fleas in cats and dogs. Revolution is another medicine you can get from the vet.
Make sure to treat the house and yard also.

it is not safe to use one collar, let alone two of them. Combining two collars could cause illness or even death. Flea collars are ineffective and often cause the pet problems, such as seizures, vomiting (poison), and hair loss, while not working to kill fleas. Flea prevention is best achieved with a topical such as frontline, advantage for cats, or revolution. These products are effective at killing and repelling the fleas and revolution also kills ear mites and deworms for some intestinal parasites and heartworms. I use revolution and I never see a flea. Best wishes.

Flea collars are a waste of time and money...they do not work. Frontline and or Advantage are your answer. They can be purchased on line. Make sure you get the recommended dosage for your cat's weight.

Don't use flea collars and esspically don't use 2 different collars at the same time. I would suggest buying flea medicine such as Frontline Plus or Advantage. I get mine from http://www.petrxshop.com and it is relatively cheap. Most importantly it works and you don't have to be afraid that your cat might strangle her/him self.

Absolutely NOT! All the chemicals are not good for your cat. Could cause the cat to get sick, or worse, die. So---
Please, try Advantage again, but this time get it from your vet, and get the kind for large dogs. It should last for your cat five months-one treatment once per month. It's cheaper to get it at the vet's office, than a pet store. Honest. You will need to have your cat's weight, etc. (probably best to take the cat to the vet for this) to get the proper dosage.
I use Advantage on my cat-and it works really well. I get it from my vet, a lot cheaper than the pet store.
Take care.
