I never claimed he was an atheist, but he was not a Christian either. Just because you take the name of something does not mean you are what you claim to be especially if you pervert the teachings of what you take. Hitler was no more a Christian than Richard Dawkins is today.

They lie about Hitler's religion because they don't want their beliefs to be associated with the most infamous and notorious mass murderer of all time. It's just a blatant lie though, and if you read Hitlers transcripts, you can see frequent religious references.
