i believe that our actions and decisions determine our future, and of course we can predict the outcome of a decision we make, whether it be bad or good

my proof of this is, if you want to know your future, just look into your past. there is no doubt, in the past you wondered what the future would be, and if you look at your past, do you agree that what happened in the near future, happened because of a choice you made?? same thing is going to happen to you in the future right now

Yes, and no.

I think we do have some control over ours lives. There are things which, if we do them, will make the chances of achieving our goals much more likely. However, I think there is a major random element to it, too.

Some ask if our future is predetermined by physics. Since everything around us works according to the natural laws, there doesn't seem to be any more will for us to do what we do than there is for a thrown rock to move along a thrown path. Whether this is true or not, to me, doesn't really matter. The universe is complex enough that even if it turns out to be deterministic in nature, it is complex enough that we can't predict the future, ourselves. That, to me, makes life interesting.

Personally, though, I think the universe is non-deterministic. That is, even at a basic physical level, it is unpredictable. Quantum theory seems to be pointing us to that conclusion.

What many people do not understand about the Universe is that the Big Bang, instantaneously created ALL space-time.

Our experience of the flow of time is entirely illusionary. The entirety of time was set in the instant of the Big Bang.

Unfortunately, the Bush Administration proves that it did NOT predict the outcome of its most stupid and incompetent decision to go to war in Iraq.
