Read from 1 Tim 4:1 KJV
1.Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2. Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3. FORBIDDING TO MARRY, and commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving OF THEM WHICH BELIEVE AND KNOW THE TRUTH

So what are your opinions on this?? Priests being forbidden to marry, does this show that they do not know the truth? I am not meaning to be disrespectful, and I am aware of Paul saying that in HIS opinion it was not the best for a man to marry.... Anyway, I just want your fair opinions ~ and keep it nice please!!

It is my opinion that the practice of forbidding to marry is not the right thing, that no-one shoul be forbidden to enter the holy and life-giving union of a man and woman in marriage. The Word says that it is not good for man to be alone, and Paul states that it is HIS opinion that it would be better to not marry, making the distinction between what God says is for man, and what Paul himself believes.

I'm in agreement with the above comments. In the last days there would arise all sorts of strange ideas which people would tend to either substitute or use as an appendage to God's plan of salvation foe us. Paul was simply giving his opinion because he said "I speak as a man" I believe he was meaning that in certain instances, being married could prove a hindrance to the preaching of the gospel. The Lord Himself instituted marriage and also sanctified it as a holy union as He Himself stated that "it is not good for man to live alone"

Check out the NLT:

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from what we believe; they will follow lying spirits and teachings that come from demons. 2 These teachers are hypocrites and liars. They pretend to be religious, but their consciences are dead. [fn1]
3 They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But God created those foods to be eaten with thanksgiving by people who know and believe the truth. 4 Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it. We may receive it gladly, with thankful hearts. 5 For we know it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

The context of 1 Timothy 4 is a warning of placing man-made beliefs over the gospel of salvation. Paul said there will come a time when people would put saving grace on practices, such as abstinence and celibacy, in addition to the saving faith in Christ as the way to salvation.

Paul's exhortation on the preference of celibacy over getting married is in the context of service. He said that when you are free from the responsibilities of married life, you have more time to commit to the Lord. However, since there is an issue of sexual immorality then it is advisable to marry and avoid sinning.

Priesthood is merely another vocation - they are people who chose to teach others about the Word of God. They are not holier that thou. God does not say "thou must be a priest to get closer to me". In fact He says everyone can get close to me. So I think the rule of priests not being allowed to marry is a man-made rule. When is it a good idea for teachers not to marry?
If you check out the 10 Commandments, which is the basis for at least 3 major world religions, it forbids adultery, not marriage.

i think that God intended for man to marry and procreate that is why he created Eve for Adam and remember Jesus said'....that is why a man leaves his parents........and marries his woman and the two become one'not exact words but u remember.now for priests,they are forbidden to marry so that they can have enough time to devote their livs to leading the flock to God.you know,marriage has a lot of distractions.
