The Christian religion was founded by the Catholic church. All Christian denominations who have broken from Catholicism are Protestant.
Evangelical is a form of some of the Protestant denominations.

Basically, evangelicals are a subset of Protestants. There are complications - in the past twenty years or so, there have been a few Catholic congregations (mostly in the US) who have identified themselves as evangelical. The word "evangelical" carries with it connotations of "spreading the Gospel". The evangelicals tend to be more - uhh - "energetic" about proselytizing.

Edit: Baptists are a denomination of Protestants. Well, actually, there are several denominations calling themselves baptists in one flavor or another. Some of them are evangelical.

The fundamentalist worship word for word the scripture. The thing to know is the largest group of lams or sheep that follow the teaching fall into the Protestant category. I do not know why a Catholic wants to be separate from the rest.

The difference is usually that the Evangelical Churches if they have a Pentecostal lien, believe that we should be running the church they way they did in the Book of Acts. IE., Full Immersion in Water for Water Baptism and a Baptism in The Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

Most secular Protestant churches believe in Christening, sprinkling water of the babe, and don't believe in The actual Baptism of The Holy Spirit.

Protestants broke away from Catholicism.

Evangelicals are protestants who tend to interpret the coming of the Holy Spirit in hysterical ways, support of which is necessary for membership of that church.
