1999.

In the 50's I was in college and had an apartment next to a beauty parlor, in fact it was in the same house where I lived. The Pope at that time was coming to the US for the first time. I overheard two ladies talking in the beauty salon, which was just across the hall from my room, and one of them asked why had the Pope never been to the US. The other lady replied,"Well, I head that his wife does not like americans."
