There is a misconception concerning tithing. It is UP TO 10%, not 10%. There are actually 2 tithes. One that should be given to the one who teaches you about G-d. This could be your church. For me it's my synagogue.

The second rotates, 2 years apiece, 2 years for the poor, 2 years for the Levites (or those who teach you), 2 years to save for a trip to Israel, and the 7th year there is no tithe.

Those that give know you generally get back more than you gave. It may be hidden in ways you don't see like the car doesn't break down or you are the only one in the neighborhood who doesn't need a new roof after a hailstorm (which happened to me this summer.)

Hebrews 7:5
And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

I don't know that tithing applies to us today. The church I attended did teach about it. But, in all reality, who can afford it in this day and age???

We don't tithe 10% to our Chruch, but we donate to several charities, and sponsor a child, etc. I think it equals at least 10%. Does that count?

Not me. I usually drop $7 in the basket when I do go, just cuz I'm so superstitious. I don't recall any doctrine of my Church asking for 10%. Maybe others do, but I'm not sure.

Questions like these are a catch 22. A true Christian shouldn't tell others how much they donate to their church.
