As far as I know the only over the counter drug per say is St. John's Wart. It is an herb. I have never used it myself. So I can't say it works or not. I have been lucky to have insurance, or then move to disability and get insurance coverage from the government through Medicaid and Medicare. Depending on where you live. There usually is some sort of place you can get help.... Trust me on this.... I had an ex not too long ago, oh 2-3 months who didn't have a job, and no insurance, and got the help to start him on the right track. I would say since you are suicidial GET HELP NOW!!!!!!!!! go to the nearest ER immediately..... if you are suicidial and you tell them this, they should admit you and get you started on meds. They should assign you a case worker who can help you get the help you need once you leave the hospital. I speak from knowledge. Granted I had insurance at the time, but they will still assign you a case worker who can help you get a doctor who is affordable to your situation, and can help you get the meds you need via samples, and there are different companies that do have programs that will provide for those who are unable to afford medication when they do not have any form of insurance.
But if you are really suicidial... get off the computer and get to an ER right now!!!!!!

St John's wort is good, but don't take it if you have epilepsy. Also look for tryptophan/ 5-HTP- this is a precursor chemical to serotonin, so it should have the same effect as a standard anti-depressant. Also consider eating salmon, tuna, mackerel or taking Omega 3 capsules, and doing a lot of sport- sometimes this can help.
In any case avoid alcohol and marijuana as these are known depressants- they give you a short high but in the long term you are MORE likely to feel depressed. Also other street drugs can have unknown side effects or be addictive, so stay away from them too.
I agree entirely with whoever said you need to call a suicide helpline, or visit an Emergency Room. Don't worry about the money- I know it is hard, but just pay for it whatever way you can (borrow money, put it on your credit card etc) becuase once you start getting better you will easily find a job and you can pay back the costs then.
Above all just try to keep going each day, remember this is one of the toughest battles you'll ever face, so just keep on going - PLEASE don't end it all!
Best wishes!

You really should not treat depression yourself just as you should not treat cancer yourself. Both can be equally debilitating and deadly if left untreated.
I know it's hard and my heart goes out to you, but you absolutely have to find a Physician. If you can't, ask a friend or family member to find you one. Tell them you have a serious problem and you need help getting a Doctor.
If you have a family Lawyer or if you go to Church and know a Pastor or a Priest, they often know Physicians who are taking new patients.
I know it is very difficult to do in some area. Doctors automatically say they are not taking new patients, because their workload is too high. But when a few patients move or perhaps move into an old age home, the Physician does have a few openings. But Doctors don't want to be beseiged by patients and they are also human beings, they don't want to kill themselves from over-work but they hate saying no to someone who needs help.
It's understandable that you can't do the calling around yourself and ask the Doctor's assistant if the Doctor is taking new patients and if he or she is not, ask to be placed on a waiting list.
In your case it is crucial. Don't worry about the drugs or being able to pay for any psychotherapy you may need. Once you get a Physician he or she will put you in contact with a social worker at your local hospital and they will see that whatever you need is paid for.
But you can't do any of those things until you get a Physcician.
In the meantime, can I suggest something? Please call your local suicide hot line even if you are not feeling suicidal. They would be happy to speak to you, they have training to help you and they also know about resources in your community that may be able to help you.
Please do not be afraid to call a suicide hotline if you are not feeling suicidal. If you were drowning you would shout out for help wouldn't you? Please do not be afraid to ask for help from anybody or any organization that you think of.
Good luck and God bless.

You aren't alone in this world where depression and anxiety are a factor in your life, at the moment....
Millions of people have one or both.
My first panic attack was at age 15. I'm 46 now, and know very well about both of them.
First, don't even think about killing yourself. That is a one way ticket hon, and you leave behind an emotional mess for everyone that cares about you....It will hurt them, anger them, bewilder them, and they will move on with their lives, but you won't.....so none of that talk ok....
Where you live, you have to have a health dept. or clinic....
If you are under 18, you can still go to the health dept. and I am "almost" positive you won't have to pay for any of it....(like I said, almost positive, each state is different)
If you can go there to get birth control, then by god, you should be able to go there.....
If they refer you to a counseling place, and it doesn't cost anything, go, that is what they are there for....
Sometimes we can't take on the world by ourselves, and need just a little help.....
Medication you do not have to take your whole life!!!!
Take it. It will "level you off" and the real you will get a grip on things....Sometimes we just get overwhelmed. Or if there are family issues, if it is people messing with you, "toxic" people they call them, people who dump their problems on you, or try to cause chaos in your life, YOU disolve all contact with those people.....doesn't matter who they are.....
Some people can cause stress for others, that is how they get through their pathetic little lives....I have a sister in law, if there isn't chaos going on, gossip, etc. she can't function! I have nothing to do with her, and don't care what hubby says about it. MY LIFE!!! comes FIRST!!! MY Happiness and peace of mind!!!
There is a whole world out there that sucks, and, there is a whole world out there that is fantastic, with great people, things yet to accomplish etc. You just need a little help seeing that right now....
St. John's wart I have heard of...There is also Melatonin, probably not the right spelling, but in the Vitamin section....
There are a couple other factors as well......
IF, you are doing any street drugs, stop! Pot, causes anxiety in some people.....
If, you drink a lot of Caffeine products, soda pop like Mellow Yellow, Mt.Dew, Dr.Pepper, they are loaded with it, and that doesn't help anxiety......
If your stuck in a routine, change it....Get a part time job, where you can get out, meet new people, sometimes change is good!!!!! Take a nice hot bath to relax, take up a new hobby....Write things down, to get them out of your head! You'll find a load off your shoulders once you've written it down....You could even take up drawing to get those thoughts out of your head......
What ever you choose to do, there is one thing to remember.
NO owners manual comes with us when we are born. We all fly by the seat of our As$, all of us....Take things one step at a time, setting reachable goals, don't try to fix everything at once....Don't be so hard on yourself, yes my dear, there are people with way worse problems then you or I could talk about.......There is only one you, and your here for a reason, so appreciate your existence, you have lots of things to still do!!! And if you get stressed out, post another question and people will answer, because we all have had our own share of crap!!!! OK?.....Now, today is a new day!!!!!!
Tell yourself that!!! and go from there.........
