Visa and Mastercard themselves are not better than the other-that's just a name. Its who, or the company that backs the name of Visa or Mastercard...Like Capitol One Mastercard has these rates and those perks. You can get a Visa from Auto Club or AT&T. Chase Visa and Providian Visa will have different rates and rules. Its like you can buy a pair of Levi's in a department store or in a Levi's store and they will have different prices. It just depends on who is selling it...get it? Its the different bank behind them.

What you need to do is try to get one with a low interest rate that isn't variable. Try your bank, then if you do online checking, you can usually pay right there, its just a transfer.

And the best advise I can give--dont charge food or drinks on it. Its a real drag to pay $$$ plus interest for something you have already digested!!!

Visa is accepted in more places. They're both equally evil if you're looking at actual credit cards. Get a debit card with a Visa logo and you won't have to worry about interest rates, late fees, or any other sort of nasty trick the credit card companies have up their sleeves waiting for you.

whichever one will give you the better options and APR! As of now Visa is accepted in more areas than MC. Such as stores, hotels, rental places, restaurants, other countries. Do you travel? Look at what your needs are for a credit card and go from there. They should work for YOU.

The difference is only in the name and the banks that use those cards. Some banks will use both. Some companies will accept one but not the other. They are just competitors in the credit card game and both will ruin you if you don't know how to control your spending habits while using them.

VISA is accepted at a few more places. Mainly you want to shop for the rate. Don't get one you have to pay an annual fee for. Get one with a grace period and pay it off each month. It's like getting free money - using their money for a month.
