A soul is not a part of us, it's a person. People are often referred to as souls in the Bible. As long as we're alive, we have consciousness, but the dead are conscious of nothing at all.

If a soul exists then it has to have it.A dormant soul has no meaning, leave aside a purpose.

I don't subscribe to the concept of a soul. Consciousness is apparent....sometimes and in some people. :O)
