I was thinking about maybe going door to door and leaving a little card in the crack with a picture of a guy watching tv. The subcaption would be something like "It's your Sunday, enjoy it!... find out how at, godisimaginary.com"

You know what I mean. I was thinking about a television ad too... something entertaining and informational at the same time.

I'm not riding a bicycle or knocking on doors at 8AM on Saturday.

It wouldn't be wrong but I don't think Atheists care what other Atheists do. It's like the time Ellen DeGeneres said to her audience "Hey! How do you like the wine?" *Applause* "It's imported from Canada" *All spit out the wine* and the next day she received complaints from Canadians about the show, even though we usually just sit back and go "Oh, haha that's funny...what else is on?" and leave it at that. I personally don't care if another Atheist were to walk up to one of my fliers and burn it because I could always make more. Go ahead and spread the word!

This actually proves my point, that atheism is just as big a risk as religion is (according to many outspoken atheists). If you have a belief in anything or nothing that's great. That's yours and whatever it is you're entitled to it. As soon as you start pushing it on others, that's the beginning of the road that leads to segregation of yourself and your supporters from others with a different view.
I've seen it said that religion is to blame for so many negative things in history, well this is where it started. As soon as you start putting your views on others you're stepping down that road.
It doesn't matter if you believe in something or nothing, you can be just as judgemental either way if you so choose.
Do as you wish with the flyers. What you're hoping to do exactly is beyond me. Will you enhance anyone's life? Will someone look at it and say "Wow! maybe this is the answer to my questions in life"? I doubt it.
Will people say "Wow, it's another piece of junk mail that's come through my letterbox"? Oh yeah

Well, that might be going a bit too far, littering and all, but we do have fliers we disseminate at book fairs, comminuty gatherings, etc.

And there are award-winning public access TV shows, such as the Atheists of Florida's "Atheist Forum," (of which I was one of the founding co-hosts), that appear regularly - when the rght-wingers don't shut down public access.

I don't see a problem with it. Christian do the same thing. They hand out flyers, business cards, and even little bibles. Jehovas Witnesses go door to door preaching their believes. Why shouldn't atheists be able to do the same thing? If one religious group can do it, all should be able to (even though atheism isn't really a religion).

If there's going to be pamphlets and monthly meetings, I suggest we also organize Bake Sales in autumn and Strawberry Socials in spring to raise funds. I can make and sell those pencils with the googly eyes and fuz-top hair on the eraser!

You'd be real efficient if you got groups of people together and arranged "territories," and everyone has to get rid of X many fliers, cards, etc. Get an official symbol, and have pep talks before you go leafletting. Maybe you'll need a clubhouse, and regular meeting times, too.

Just a suggestion.

It's sort of like violence in my opinion. The only reason I'll hit you is if you hit me first. The only justified reason in my mind to hand out an atheism flyer is if someone's already trying to proselytise you.

Nothing wrong with a bit of publicity as long as you go about it the right way
