In Tampa the schools were let our for M.L.K. day and had a parade and other activites. Here we have CentCom and nothing for veterans day. This is crazy. Agree with Bush or not these are our men and women living through hell so we can be free. We should be screaming at the top of our lungs for the appaling lack of gratitude.

Here in Iraq, we don't celebrate either.

But we did have a red, white and blue cake in the chow hall.

When the national legal public holiday falls on a Sunday, the day following is sometimes not taken as a school holiday. In Tampa the Veterans Day parade was on Saturday. Did you miss it?

All federal offices are closed on Monday, in observance of Veteran's Day (which was Sunday). All state universities were also closed.

I am a veteran and this is the first Veteran's Day that I have had off in years.

I don't know about others; but every Veteran's Day I take my vet friends out to dinner, on me. We then talk about other vets we've known and who are no longer with us. We don't exactly 'celebrate' the day; as war is not something that puts us in a celebratory mood. But we do honor those who have passed on in defense of our way of life. And we also honor those who have survived, though not all in one piece; and who are being shafted by the government, now that they are home and in need of assistance. Personally, I think that our government, instead of shuffling disabled vets off into the hidden recesses of life in order to save a few bucks, should give each and every one of them a better than average lifetime income, and total medical coverage. After all, they have paid the ultimate price. Those who died have not suffered nearly as much, nor for as long, as our disabled vets. It is a shame on our nation the way we treat them.

Here in California we certainly celebrate Veterans' Day. Public offices were closed, schools too. We had memorials, parades, flags everywhere.

I am angry too that people do not value life as much as before.

But, today, I volunteered out at various senior center groups and such.
