Simple...the press want stories.... businesses want press coverage.

If there is a good relationship between a PO and the press, then you are more likely to have the story you want published at a time that works for you.

If you have a poor relationship then the press will not help you, or worse will actively publish negative stories about you - not good for business,.

This is a symbiotic relationship.
