I grew up target shooting but I've never had a hunter safety class. What do I need to do in order to get the license...am I required to take a class or can I just do it online? Thanks for any info.

To hunt in Georgia you must take a Hunters Safety Course BEFORE you can purchase a license. You can see the questions online but you must complete the classroom time and take the test in person. You didn't mention how old you are so you need to check out the below listed website to get the information you need to take the class. To be honest I think you have waited too long to get a certificate before this weekend. georgiawildlife.dnr.state.ga.us Maybe you will get lucky and will be able to get in a class soon.

You didnt state your age. If you are in your teens or younger they will ask for your hunter safety course number. Legally, they won't ask you after the age of 27. Most older folks don't have it and won't get it. So it is a "don't ask, don't tell" loophole.

If you don't fit that age bracket and/or you don't have the course under your belt as of yet, you can forget about legally hunting this weekend.

The DNR is all over the woods this year as they are seeking diligently to make quota numbers to support their positions.

I know, because I have accosted by two in the North GA woods so far this year.

They catch you without a license, you lose everything you used in order to commit the crime (car included) so I wouldn't test them if I were you.

Don't have a license, haven't taken hunter safety, don't know whether you are hunting deer or boar...

I hunt in Georgia. I want you to have good luck, and it will be luck for you. I also don't want you to shoot me by accident. Please make sure of your target before shooting.

in the state i live in, you cant buy tags for what u are hunting for unless u have taken a hunters safety course. im not sure about other states laws...i would check into the law where u live. we also have to have our hunters safety card with us while hunting.
