Sorry to hear about your illness, Nikka.
Before I would be able to give a good answer to your question I would need to know where the adenocarcinoma came from (if known), whether it has spread to any outside organs and if so which organs, and how many lymph nodes are involved. There's a fairly wide 5-year survival rate for Stage 3 adenocarcinoma (30-60%), and it is all based on the factos that I mentioned above with a special emphasis on lymph node involvement, especially in colon cancer. Please feel free to contact me with details if you'd like a more thorough answer, but the person who can give you the best information is your doctor. And don't be afraid to seek a second opinion from another oncologist. Best wishes to you.

Doctors seem to be all practicing--life is a guess, drugs they push for everything, do they look further? Maybe there is a connection to your arthritis? Body fights as best it can. Other issues might be there and they stop looking at the first sign of finding something. There has been some weird research on this by people with Bi-Polar in a good sense. Some found out through tests, they had sleep apnea, serious enough, they actually stopped breathing for a few seconds after or during REM. Once they had the proper equipment, they were able to be like they were and the real cause was a sleep disorder. Another one is also experimental. Getting off of all corn oil products, including corn starch cosmetics, etc. No popcorn, no corn flakes, no corn bread or even corn syrup. It is a hard diet, but 2 out of 10 made a change for the good, now they feel good and no mood swings. One out of the 10 also did away with mixing dairy products with chicken, beef, lamb and other meats and eliminated all nitrate products and add 42% Gallium nitrate, I think they mixed 100 cc in a liter of water and divided the water mixture into 2 days and drank daily. This person has done remarkably well. I don't know if any of the above can be your problem, we never know what chemicals we need or what we have in us that is a problem. The nitrate got rid of excessive calcium in her body & other chemical imbalances that were throwing her body into turmoil. Also, not having the right balance of magnesium and vit. D3 & calcium can make a difference, also check your levels of potassium too, low blood sugar can also mimic mood changes. So much they don't check when they find one problem, and don't keep checking.

Stage 3 Adenocarcinoma

What type of adenocarcinoma do you have? Where was your primary tumor located and was surgery done to remove it? Are the different cycles of chemo part of a specific treatment plan or are they being done because you have relapsed or because the first two cycles have been ineffective?

Someone suggested Hulda Clark to you. I will tell you that it is a bad idea to believe anything Hulda Clark might claim about curing cancer . Hulda Clark is a fraud and stays in Mexico because she would be liable to both criminal and civil charges in the US. You can read one woman's experience with her clinic here.

http://www.cancertreatmentwatch.org/victims/ponzanelli.shtml

Hulda's "hospital" looks plain nasty to me. Her books are one long series of contradictions where people are poorly or self diagnosed, often without any scans or pathology biopsies and then treated for a few weeks before Hulda declares the patient cured. There is no post treatment CT scan done or long term followup. This is not curing cancer but simply preying on the fears of people at their most vulnerable in order to sell books.

If you think your Dr is not serving you well then seek a second opinion at a major cancer center. These comprehensive cancer centers are spread all around the country. Here is a listing by state. Most oncologists will welcome a second set of eyes making positive suggestions.

The truth is even the best people with cancer sometimes do pass away. No one on Yahoo Answers knows how long you are going to live and neither does your Dr for sure. It is up to you to make sure your Dr is doing a good job and you have the best treatment plan in place. It is also up to you to not waste your precious time chasing magic bullet cancer cures - because there aren't any. I know how hard things can get sometimes so keep your chin up and take things one day at a time. I wish you all the best.

Something to keep in mind - I had a neighbor that had stage 3 adenocarcinoma of the colon and she was in remission for at least five years until I lost track of her due to moving.

as long as you chose to.. not being scarcastic but I have found out the trick to fighting and possibly beating cancer no matter what the diagnosis is is a positive attitude. If you let the cancer beat you then you could die tomorrow but if you have a good attitude and beat it you could live to be 90 even with it.. I'm not sure what kind adenocarcinoma is but I have just been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and pretty positive it has spread some but I expect to live quite a while yet with or without the cancer there..
Good luck and hope all works out for you.

The primary site of the tumor is a determinant. There are lots of different adenocarcinomas. But there's no real answer available to us humans. Your oncologist should be able to give you a range of statistics, which is about the best knowledge you can get.

The next formula is only aid and considering of the time available of an oncological patient. It multiplies the remaining days according to the age of the person, by each one of the 5 important risk factors, this mathematically would be:

Time of Life = F1 * F2 * F3 * F4 * F5.

F1 = Age

1 - 19 = 25000
20 - 39 = 15000
40 - 59 = 5000
60 - 79 = 3000
80 - 99 = 1000

F2 = Cancer Estage

0 = 1
A or 1 = 0.80
B or 2 = 0.70
C or 3= 0.60
D or 4 = 0.50

F3 = Life style

EXERCISE + GOOD NUTRITION + HEALTHY LIFE = 1
EXERCISE + GOOD NUTRITION = 0.80
SEDENTARY = 0.70
SEDENTARY + STRESS = 0.60
SEDENTARY + STRESS + BAD NUTRITION = 0.50

F4 = SANGUINEOUS GROUP

OTHERS 1
B (RH + Ó -) = 0.80
O (RH + Ó -) = 0.70
AB (RH + Ó -) = 0.60
A (RH + Ó -) = 0.50

F5 = FAMILIAR RISKS

0 FAMILIAR CASES (FATHER - MOTHER) = 1
1 FAMILIAR CASES (FATHER - MOTHER) = 0.80
BOTH FAMILIAR CASES (FATHER - MOTHER) = 0.70
BOTH FAMILIAR CASES (FATHER - MOTHER) TO DRINK ALCOHOL = 0.60
BOTH FAMILIAR CASES (FATHER - MOTHER) TO DRINK ALCOHOL And TO SMOKE = 0.50

photoguy said it . This is a question for your Doctors , or a second opinion from someone who knows the issues. There are too many variables.

I believe you should make sure your financial and legal papers are in order, power of medical attorney and will. It may not be needed but you will have fewer worries if those are all done .

njdoc is right on. If I were in your struggle I would also consider the alternatives, carefully. Here are some I just posted for someone else on this topic:

One of the alternative approaches that I would try if I were terminal is found in a book called:
The Cure for All Cancers: Including over 100 Case Histories of Persons Cured by Hulda R. Clark http://www.drclark.net/

I would also see a doctor who specializes in alternatives but is an actual MD. I would look for an MD who does oxygen therapies and chelation therapies. I would contact Dr Weil's staff and ask them who they can refer you to. http://www.drweil.com/drw/ecs/index.html You don't say what part of the world you are in .

Try spelling things like this - a tumor, chemotherapy, vocal chords - find out the exact type of tumor she has and add that to your queries.

Consider the latest trials http://www.cancer.gov/clinicaltrials
as they usually have a higher survival rate.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Have you ever read this group?? Its mostly teenyboppers thinking they know a lot.

When your doctor told you his diagnosis, what did he tell you?? Did you tell him you want a second opinion??

The last thing you need in your life, is the answers this group is going to give you. Get into the real world. While you can.
