I have another cat, and I'm keeping them separated so my older cat doesn't get fleas. I gave them both an application of Advantage earlier today. The new persian is in the bathroom, and there's no carpets or anything in there, except for a towel for him. What should I use to clean the bathroom while he's in there, and get rid of the fleas?

I already gave both my cats Advantage earlier today. The fleas aren't bad at all. I haven't seen any except for a bit of flea dirt. I'm asking how to clean my bathroom so that I can get rid of the fleas that will jump back onto my cat.

Keeping the cats separate won't stop the other catching fleas! Fleas can go under closed doors you know. Anyway, you've treated both cats so they should be fine.

You may find you don't need to treat the environment if there were hardly any fleas on the cat. If you do need to, get a spray from the vets. It isn't enough just to clean the place, you actually have to treat it. Don't use any 'bombs' or 'foggers' or anything at all from a pet store, this stuff is rubbish.

You need to get him - and the other cat - on a topical flea treatment like Advantage or Frontline. You'll also need to treat your home as the fleas have probably already hopped off and set up home in your carpets. Do NOT spray a store bought flea spray on him or use some cheap flea shampoo. That stuff is very, very toxic for cats. How bad are the fleas? Does he seem infested with them or just a few? If there's just a few then get a flea comb and comb them out of his coat.

Get a good flea Dusting powder for humans and dust all the rooms with it ...It is not toxic to pets.....Gees I can imagine a visit to your house everyone sitting around scratching and squirming...lol
