I have two female guinea pigs well i sure hope they are two females. They have been chasing each other and the baby one is trying to hump the other one. There privates look exactly the same.. So are they just curious and messing around or is this natural or was i given two different sexes?

When i first got my 2 girls "poppy" always did this, she chased, bum sniffed, tried to hump and nip "clovers" bum also every so often makes a rumble noise walking slowly past her. It does sound like a dominance thing. If it was a male and female you would certainly know about it, the male would be strutting up and down shaking his bum from side to side making a constant rumbling noise 24/7. If you still are unsure nip down to a nearby rescue centre or vets (check if they will charge) to put your mind at rest. hope this helps

Piggies can be very hard to sex. Look closely at the photos at this link & it should help.

If you take your finger & gently press downward right above the "privates" area, the penis will pop out if its a boy.

If after looking at the photos & trying to get the penis to appear you are still not sure, I would call a cavy savvy vet for an expert opinion. Sometimes they will not charge just to sex an animal, but call first to make sure.

Now, having said that.....if you have two females, the little one could just be trying to establish dominance. They do this by chasing & mounting each other. However, if the little one is a boy......watch out. They are sexually mature at 3 weeks & you could end up with a pregnant sow. :(

Good luck!

I agree that you should find out for certain whether you have 2 females. Also, many animals, including guinea pigs, act out what *looks* like mating behavior to decide which one is dominant. Our girl rats do this while they're getting used to each other but they stop after they figure out who's alpha.

That sounds like you might have two different genders. Guinea pigs are very difficult to sex, and they look almost identical down there. Separate them for now, and maybe ask a cavy savvy person to sex them just to be sure.

just because their privates look the same doesn't mean there are. Here's how you find out (I thought this was very nasty by the way when i was taught this) you gently squeeze them down there and if nothing pops out it's a girl(they will not like this)and don't let them stay together it one is a boy.
If you want them to have babies you need to keep them separate but close enough so they can like touch noses(this is because the girl will have to get used to him before she will let him do that.
