All the branches of the military share the same payscales as far as ranks go. Where you will see the difference between the branches is when it comes to bonuses for enlistment and re-enlistment. Of course those varry from job to job.

Not sure if it is still the same, but 5 years ago when a friend of mine was joining the Marines, they didn't offer enlistment bonuses. Though this could have changed. Talk to a recruiter for the most upto date information.

Don't listen to anybody that says money doesn't matter, it is a job and will consume alot of your time, nothing wrong with thinking about the financial side. If you are married, you will make out better with the housing allowance(BAH) and COLA(if you are overseas or in AK, HI). Look at the 2010 enlisted salaries, google it, it will tell you what you are going to bring in. Just remember, you will not be paying for housing or health insurance. You will be able to save, even with what you make if you don't blow your money like I've seen a million privates do.

everybody gets paid the same base pay across the board regardless of Branch, based on Paygrade and Time in service. an E1 with under 2 years in makes about $1500/month-ish.

All branches of the Armed sevices are on the same pay scale.

(But I believe it's cheaper to be in the Army, so you keep more money.)

The paygrade is the same for all branches but if you are enlisting, check to see if there is an enlistment bonus for your MOS.
