you smoke because you decided to put the cigarette in your mouth and suck in the smoke. Take it from someone who smoked for twenty or so years and who does not smoke any more. God or the devil has nothing to do with it, your addiction to nicotine does. Good luck quitting.

If you believe in the devil and God you probably believe in the Bible which clearly states man and woman have been imbued with free will which means the devil can not make you do anything. Demons are tempters and influences. God did not make Adam eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Adam chose to. He does not make you smoke. You choose to.

You are a unique human being, made by God and given a free will by God. He allows us to choose to do good, or choose to do wrong. The devil doesn't make us do anything, nor does God make us do anything. We are not forced to behave in a wrong way nor a right way, but have the freedom to choose behavior ourselves.
Consequences always come with our choices though. A good choice brings respect from others as well as personal satisfaction, while the bad choices can bring negativity and judgment from others.
Protect your name (reputation) and make good choices for your life.

Your flesh makes you Smoke,
You must deal with the World, the Flesh and the devil, but the devil can't do anything you don't let him.
Now, many people switch addictions, that is they give up smoking for eating still addicted and in worse shape that before in many cases.
To give up addictions you must surrender your life personally to Jesus and then ask Jesus to baptize you in his Holy Spirit so you will have power to over come.
However most people like their addictions and don't wish to change.
God does not tempt people with sin, because God can't sin it's not in him, so he can't tempt you with something not in him, but He can and will give you the power to stop if you ask him to (that is from the heart).

Sad. The only way you can feel better about yourself is either blaming it on "God" or the "devil". Why don't you put the blame in the right place, your own head.
You are making the choices, you are puffing away.
Change your mind and don't smoke, and then you won't have to blame your own choices on anyone else.

Ads and watching others tempt you to do it. Once you try it the drug nicotine is what gets you hooked. Not the devil, it really bugs me when people say the devil made me do it. No the devil did not make you do it, your brain or your heart helped you to use poor judgment and make a bad choice.

its neither Im afraid. although if I really had to blame one Id say its the devil. but even if it was the devil, he'd do something worse. otherwise if thats how he works then he's doing a good job at killing several people each year.
but in all honesty, I think its neither.
