What are some advantages and disadvantages to living in Australia?

Weird....I'm an Aussie just returned from living in England.....and I'd say that we paid for things we wouldn't expect to.....like a TV licence!! :) Guess it's what you grow up with that you get used to. I loved England, but I'm happy to return to Australia as well.
Advantages:
-weather is gorgeous most of the time
-democratic government system
-high rate of employment
-outdoor lifestyle, laid back people
-generally a safe society
Disadvantages:
-isolated from other continents makes travelling abroad more expensive
-dollar isn't as strong as the pound!!

I can only think of one disadvantage to living in Australia and he's going to be thrown out of office on November 24. It is a great country with opportunities for everyone but it also has safety nets for the disadvantaged so everyone has education and health care. I have been to many different parts of the world and found them wanting. I don't want to live anywhere else.

The australians........na just kidding. Im from england and living in Australia. Its ok, you pay higher taxes here to home, and you get charged for things you wouldnt expect, like monthly charges on bank accounts. But the weather is nice, and overall i guess its ok.
