I was told once that people try to put you down and make you look bad because they are not happy with themselves, and their lives. Those people are truly not happy so they have to make everyone around them suffer!

sometimes people behave with arrogance when the real source of this behavior is insecurity and fear. There is a fine line between confidence, which in encouraged in our society and out right arrogance and showing off in a way that makes people feel bad. The latter will get society to reject you.

I have heard of emotional needs...but not with the characteristics you were describing. In school I have learned about maslow's hierarchy of needs which is a pyramid of the most important needs to the least important. Yes, people have emotional needs, they have a need for friendship, need for family, need to socialize. These are the needs of society.

Actually what I was thinking the need of belonging, apprciation, social, and love...

I will give you a link to the pyramid...

Often people who are very insecure and unsure of themselves try to make others look worse. It's a sign of low self-worth. I feel sorry for this person.

i am not sure, i think most people are just greedy and self center. Those type of people don't think about other peoples feeling, needs or morals only theirs.
