Sometimes we need to reach rock-bottom before we realise we need to change our attitude & behaviour. It sounds as though this guy now realises how poorly he behaved in the past & is now trying to get his life back on track. It's not necessary for you to admire him, but I think it would probably be a nice touch if you were to congratulate him on his recent turn around & wish him all the best for the future. After all, his past relationship & dismissal from work has nothing to do with you, so there is no reason why you shouldn't be pleasant to him when you next see him.

It sounds like your friend was an alchoholic. You can certainly admire his strength in turning his life around, but pray that he doesn't fall into the weakness that knocked him down in the first place again. Everyone has something in them that we can admire or despise. The key is to know which is which.

I feel that we all go through something at some time in our lives. He was probably trying to deal with some personal issues or he was on some real strong drug.LOl! but whatever it was he was able to pull it together.

By all means you should commend him for getting himself together but I wouldn't suggest you go the same route he took.

I think men are nuts! They go crazy over woman and then get rejection. Then they totally embrassed themselves in public. They are sort of hard to get along with and very agressive. It is very rare to see a man with loving heart.

Sound like it is too good to be true. Did he find Jesus or something like that? I'd check it out before showering him with admiration.

Well you definitely shouldn't admire him, he sounds like kind of a douchebag. If you can't handle your liquor or respect your bosses you sound like a dick to me. So I guess if being a dick is cool then yeah admire him. He's a strong person but like i said sounds like a dick.

everybody makes mistakes in life, maybe he realized he did and got his life back together again. If you admire him, that's really up to you and what you feel inside. You shouldn't have other people tell you, or advise you how to feel about somebody else

No. It's great that he's getting back on his feet after what happened, but...he got himself in his situation in the first place.
