"I'd rather live my life as if there were a God, and die and find out there isn't, than live my life as if there were no God, and die and find out there is"
(Quote I have on my fridge)

I'm not very fond of monkeys.

I feel like monkeys are a little more compassionate then the most intelligent being in the universe. I mean, I've never met a monkey who created a species, performed a bunch of miracles for a very select few for a very limited amount of time, and then got bored of them and gave up.

I also feel that monkeys are a little more realistic.

However, I'm sure you'll hear this many times (and although you've heard it many times before and it still hasn't quite made it into that brain of yours) it was a common ancestor!

(You've also hit religion in the head. It has nothing to do with what I want to believe, because I would loove to believe I get to live in eternity with my wife and kids and play hockey and read books and have a big party forever, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. So, technically, you believe God made us because you want to, not because you've actually thought about it. Silly you)

i know that i am incredibly blessed to say that i know i came from the loving hands of the most intelligent being that ever is. i am proud to say that GOD is my creator and he made me exactly as i am with (and for) a divine purpose. however, i do think that science has enough evidence to credibly say that our ancestors did not look the way we do now, and may have very well resembled the primate. evolution in reality is alot different than what most people make it out to be. humans have evolved during the course of time... alot. but the fact still remains that we are, and always have been, humans, not monkeys, and that is just the way GOD designed it.

For the last time...we did NOT come from monkeys. We came from a mutual predecessor. Also, we were not instantly super-smart beings, our own species has slowly evolved over time as well.

Would I like to think that everything has an incredibly simple answer? ...No, I wouldn't, because I enjoy discovering just how things work. Makes life much more interesting than a short and sweet "Goddidit."

Isn't calling the god of the bible the most intelligent being in the universe kind of an insult to the rest of us? I mean, if we're dumber than THAT...

At any rate, I come from Colorado. I'll stick with that.

Given the choice, I choose neither.

I choose what every bit of evidence suggests -- monkeys and I share a common ancestor, but that I did not directly descend from monkeys.

I would like to think that I came from Ice Cream land and that I will return there when I die.
But there is no evidence that that is true.
There is plenty of evidence for the evolution of the species.
There is no evidence for the existence of God.
Wanting to believe something does not make it true.

After reading your bible I would say the Monkey is the superior option by far...

btw, you and I don't really have a choice in the matter. We descended from lower mammals and whether you choose to face that fact or not makes no difference

Perhaps a better question would be "would you like to think your were created by god using the scientific process of evolution working on the basic material of our ape-like ancestors, or would you prefer to think god created us to look exactly like an upright ape, but formed us out of mud 6000 years ago?"

The 'monkey' bit, and the 'came from god' bit are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

It does not matter what i would LIKE to think. My opinions on this are based on the evidence at hand. The evidence at hand points me towards us and Apes having a common ancestor. Here is a link to a story. They have found yet another common ancestor of Apes and Humans in Africa. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071112/sc_nm/ape_human_africa_dc

I would choose a monkey. God in the Old Testament is a nut job.
