Considering this is r and s I think it may be that you mean " I am that I am " This is a quote from God . Is this what you mean. If it is , it is just God's answer when the question " who are you, or what are you was put to Him I also think God knows that for Him to try to explain the answer would be to no avail. I am sure we could not get our brains around the answer. So I think this is God polite way of dismissing the question. If the statement " I am therefore I am is just a philosophical statement then I am outa here.

That's pretty much like the anthropic principle. According the the anthropic principle, the universe is the way it is because if it weren't, we wouldn't be around to observe it. All of the constants in all of the equations are "perfect" for life, which is why so many think that a higher power created the universe. Well, the fact that our universe's constants support life is complete coincidence, and if the numbers were any different, we wouldn't be around to discuss it.
So yes. I am, therefore, I am.

This is on the Spiritual section of Yahoo, so I'm going to assume that you're asking why God says His name is that.
I AM means that He is existence itself. Despite the time, yesterday, today, tomorrow, God just IS. Unlike us, who changes by the moment, God stays present tense always, unmoving, Omni-All.

Well it is actually "I think therefore I am" ~ Rene Decartes
EDIT: If you wanted a discussion then it should have been asked "I ______ therefore I am"
And if you meant references to God it should be "I am THAT I am"
I see your are not even "simply" a philosopher or theologian.

I am because my father was. My father was because his father had been. etc.
In contrast, God uses the name I am that I am to indicate that he simply is... self-sufficient.
