By John Coleman

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create an illusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmentally conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minute documentary segment.

I do not oppose environmentalism. I do not oppose the political positions of either party. However, Global Warming, i.e. Climate Change, is not about environmentalism or politics. It is not a religion. It is not something you “believe in.” It is science; the science of meteorology. This is my field of life-long expertise. And I am telling you Global Warming is a non-event, a manufactured crisis and a total scam. I say this knowing you probably won’t believe a me, a mere TV weatherman, challenging a Nobel Prize, Academy Award and Emmy Award winning former Vice President of United States. So be it.

I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct. There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril. I am incensed by the incredible media glamour, the politically correct silliness and rude dismissal of counter arguments by the high priest of Global Warming.

In time, a decade or two, the outrageous scam will be obvious. As the temperature rises, polar ice cap melting, coastal flooding and super storm pattern all fail to occur as predicted everyone will come to realize we have been duped. The sky is not falling. And, natural cycles and drifts in climate are as much if not more responsible for any climate changes underway. I strongly believe that the next twenty years are equally as likely to see a cooling trend as they are to see a warming trend. See John’s full blog story here.. Ummm for those who discredit John Coleman
I don't know but I think I'd pay more attention to someone that has 55 years experience in the field of weather.. I don't know if I'd call it a conspiracy but I wouldn't put it past liberal politicians to make a big deal of something that really isn't...I find it funny that not too many give God any credit for the weather changes..He is the one in control not man..

i think that there is global warming. however, i strongly believe that it is not caused by humans whatsoever. there is nothing we can do because it is a natural phenomenon which has happened in the past. you just don't hear about that part because the media is so biased. surprisingly there were articles in the 70's which warned of global cooling.
basically there are bigger problems in the world then global warming. for example the border problem, the federal reserve, and the UN.

oh by the way if people want to "stop" global warming then we should start living like cavemen. the funny thing is even that wouldn't solve anything. the costs will be super high. like trillions of dollars, which is absolutely ridiculous. we don't need higher taxes.

so yeah it is a scam! i like this question. way not be influenced by the media like so many other people.

Climate change is part of a normal cycle. That anything man has done is affecting it is the scam part. If you know nothing else about the ecological system on earth, know this. It is remarkably resilient. No single factor or even series of factors has a major effect one way or the other. For instance, even if mankind releases unprecedented levels of CO2 into the atmosphere creating more "green house" gases into the air and they tend to inhibit warmth from radiating out into space, that is not all they do. They also cause warmer air which holds much more water vapor which condenses into cloud cover that then blocks the sun's radiation and cools the earth. The sun does not heat the air, it only heats the land and the sea which then radiate heat into the air. Block the sun and as anyone who ever went outside on a solidly overcast day can attest, the air is much cooler. To those who understand climate it is obviously just propaganda. So why then are so many scientists participating in this fraud? Federal grant money. Money corrupts. Since the government started to dump billions of dollars into Universities for scientific research it is really amazing. We have had one phony crisis that was going to destroy mankind after another. The reason for this disaster du jour is the almighty dollar. Universities compete for those dollars. The best way to increase your take is to concoct a crisis that has the potential for catastrophic results. Thus far in my lifetime we have had: Global cooling- Another ice age coming. Acid rain- All plant and fish will be gone soon. Ozone hole- Everyone will soon have skin cancer. Over salination of the ocean. Desalination of the ocean. This madness has got to stop. All the billions spent on research money has resulted in is more need for research money. Very little actual useful information per dollar if you ask me. Now the government is preparing to spend billions more researching alternative fuels. Such an approach will only encourage more and more preposterous research and maintain a cash flow to Universities. There is no incentive to ever solve the problem. A far better approach would be to offer a billion dollar prize, tax free, for the person or persons who come up with a truly viable and sustainable alternative fuel. Then there would be an incentive to not only search but to actually find one. *

Wow, he's read DOZENS of scientific papers. Now that's credibility for you.

Well, I've read thousands of scientific papers. I read them every day. There is no scam. There is no global conspiracy to fake the data. The data are taken by too many people in too many places to fake. The loss of Arctic sea ice is already moving faster than even the most pessimistic models have predicted.

Changing the climate is like steering a supertanker: it takes a loooong time to do it. By the time the worst effects are upon us, it will be too late to turn back the clock, because of positive feedbacks in the climate system. We can prevent the worst of it, cheaply, if we act now. But you can't buy back an extinct species at any price.

Perhaps Global Warming is somewhat of a delusion but, the fact is humans have killed off several species of animals that once existed here and still are. We continually clog our atmosphere and waters with garbage. We bombard our children with worthless nonsense on TV. Rising prices have caused escalating violence with armed robberies and drug distribution. All in all global warming or not, the human race is destroying itself. Maybe there should be more effort put into showing that global warming is indeed real instead of trying to expose it as a scam. Maybe by doing so the world will listen and try to clean up the horrid scars we are leaving on this beautiful planet we call Earth.

I'm not out to discredit Mr. Coleman, but apparently The Weather Channel has chosen to distance themselves from his stance by issuing the following Position Statement, dated November, 2007. It says, in part:

"More than a century's worth of detailed climate observations shows a sharp increase in both carbon dioxide and temperature. These observations, together with computer model simulations and historical climate reconstructions from ice cores, ocean sediments and tree rings all provide strong evidence that the majority of the warming over the past century is a result of human activities. This is also the conclusion drawn, nearly unanimously, by climate scientists. Any meaningful debate on the topic amongst climate experts is over.

Humans are also changing the climate on a more localized level. The replacement of vegetation by buildings and roads is causing temperature increases through what's known as the urban heat island effect. In addition, land use changes are affecting impacts from weather phenomena. For example, urbanization and deforestation can cause an increased tendency for flash floods and mudslides from heavy rain. Deforestation also produces a climate change "feedback" by depleting a source which absorbs carbon dioxide."

In case you need more evidence, I'm providing you with links to some of the 25+ sites I've discovered. These are primarily government associated (mostly U.S.) and university research programs. If this is a scam, it's a helluva good one. Check the sites, you'll learn a lot, as I have, and I'm learning more every day. I made a promise to myself that my grandson would be able to enjoy the planet as I have as he grows up, and I'll spend some time each and every day trying to see that he gets to do just that.

I'm not going to discredit John Coleman for two reasons - 1) like everybody, he is entitled to his opinion and 2) he's a weatherman not a climate scientist and is therefore outside his sphere of excellence.

It's a frequent mistake to confuse meteorology with climatology - the former is concerned with weather whilst the latter focuses on climate. The two are related but they're very different. It's like confusing vetinary medicine with human medicine - related but different.

Mr Coleman is a weather expert, it doesn't follow that he's a climate expert. He'll certainly know a good deal about climate but, as his report indicates, his knowledge of the subject is lacking in key areas (I'm a climate scientist myself so the errors he has made stand out like sore thumbs).

The artcile by Mr Coleman is really nothing more than one person's opinion and should be treated as such. Truth begins to get distorted when we start accepting opinion as fact. Unfortunately this is happening with increasing frequency amongst some climate change skeptics, consequently when challenged to provide evidence to substantiate their claims they're unable to do so.

The Weather Channel itself has a very different view of global warming than that of Mr Coleman, it's official statement on global warming states "...the majority of the warming over the past century is a result of human activities. This is also the conclusion drawn, nearly unanimously, by climate scientists. Any meaningful debate on the topic amongst climate experts is over." I have browsed this section of yahoo answers for about an hour, and I have to say that I am laughing my head off right about now. Some people say

-Global warming doesnt exist
-Global warming is a major problem
-Global cooling is what we need to worry about

There is no proof one way or the other that any of this actually exists, and look at the impact it has had. Some people argue it like none other, and I will go to the extent of saying that this is the funniest and most idiotic thing I've ever seen.

What does it matter if its a scam or not?

If it is a scam, then we don't need to worry about it, and if it isn't a scam then we should try to reduce pollution.

No matter what, we should try and increase efficiency to lower costs, and lower pollution so that we can leave the world as well off as we found it. As technology advances, we'll become more efficient, and the global warming problem if it exists will be curbed. What is important to know is that the changes are slow, (5 degrees F over 100 years if we keep current efficiency) and so there is no need to panic.

global warming is debatable especially in winter when you are freezing cold, look at the glaciers and ice lines though they are receeding at an alarming rate,. what is of more concern to me though is the kyoto protocol, and this ridiculous carbon tax that govts around the world are pushing, with carbon credits and the like that is the scam how is paying a few extra dollars going to solve the real problems and who gets the money? we will all be poorer for it as prices of fuel etc will skyrocketalong withmanufacturing costs so look out its not a pretty picture.

Give me a break. The guy isn't a scientist, much less a climatologist. He has no evidence. He's just doing some political ranting. "Dastardly"? "Whackos"?

How can he see through the "scam" and 99+% of scientists, most every world leader and EVERY major scientific organization can't? The answer is simple. It's not a scam, he's wrong, and they're right.

Even The Weather Channel disagrees with him:

http://climate.weather.com/globalWarmingStatement.html
http://climate.weather.com/science/globalwarming/

Why would anybody intelligent believe him instead of thousands of Ph.D. scientists, backed by a massive database?

He seems to be a conservative. Maybe he should listen to Newt:

"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

Good websites for actual scientific info:
