The Best Man and the male attendants have worn the same habit at every wedding we attended. The groom wore the same tux as the party. Now the trend is for the bridegroom to wear the formal tuxedo and the groomsmen to weara tux other than black.

No... The best man should have equal attire to the other groomsmen. The point is that the bride and groom stand out and apart from others in the wedding party. It's their day, not the best man's...

You know I've never thought much about it but I think it's a good idea. I was in a wedding where all the bridesmaid's wore the color green and the maid of honor wore blue. I suppose it would be up to the groom to decide.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on what the bride wants to do.
I have seen weddings both ways -- like the best man may wear a different color cummerbund, or different color stitching on the vest.
It is usually that way when the maid/matron of honor wears something different too.

If the maid of honor's dress is slightly different than I think making the groom's best man tux slightly different would be a good idea.

It's where he stands and what he does. A wedding is a dignified ceremony, not a circus. Weddings where everyone's wearing a different colored cummerbund, dress, etc to "stand out"... are just in poor taste. I've got nothing against casual weddings where people just wear what they have...

It depends on your personal opinion. Some people set the best man apart and some don't. It is whatever you feel is better.

His bow tie is usually white and his boutineer is white. He could also have a jacket with tails..if it is a formal wedding.

Ours doesn't. We're getting married in 38 days. We have my maid of honor carrying different flowers, but that's it.

No, it is not common for the best man to be distinguished.
