My nephews mother likes to "exaggerate" EVERYTHING. now she is saying that her son has MRSA. in her words " he only has it a little bit and is not contagus. they gave him a cream to put on it. came up on his back friday morning and went away friday night, then came back saturday morning on his face and moved to his stomach on saturday night. but he is fine and is still allowed to go to daycare." i'm confused because the she said the dr. did not do a culture or anything basically just looked at his red spot and said it was MRSA and gave him cream, no antibiotics just the cream. does this make since to anybody? they are supose to come over for thanks giving but i dont want my son to catch MRSA and she lies so much i dont know what to do or beleive.

My sister in law has a bad case of staph infection on her back, it's covered in infected pimple-like areas. Anyway, she's seen two doctors, neither of which cultured it, but both immediately said it was a staph infection and it probably wasn't MRSA, based upon what the pimples looked like. The doctors say she is not contagious although they also say that she probably picked it up from sitting against the back of a chair in a bathing suit this summer after someone who had the same infection sat there and got infected pus on it, so, who's to say she couldn't pass it on the same way?

That being said, she's on a two-month long session of antibiotics and will need to be tested at the end of that time to see if the infection is gone.

I've never heard of MRSA being treated without the use of antibiotics.

MRSA is treated in an hospital because the antibiotics they give the patients must be given through an IV and they are very strong antibiotics so the infected person will be weak while recieving the medications. They do use a cream to help the rash/boils that MRSA causes.
Also, the doctor has to do a culture in order to make sure it is actually MRSA.
If they didn't do a culture and he is at home then I highly doubt it is actually MRSA.

Hi I live on a American base in Japan and a lot of people actually have CA-MRSA. Everyone is giving others it because they go work out together and spread it. And I actually go it from the gym myself. Let me tell you it is SO painful and the hospital here just cuts it open and drains it. Which means i dont have a way to get it out of my system. Anyways I have heard many stories here and what that lady is telling you just doesnt add up to be MRSA AT ALL! But if you cant trust her much on the truth..worry about the saftey of your own son!

he's already getting the remedies that his doctor hopes will administration this. Are you asking us to inform you his doctor is doing issues all incorrect? it really is no longer unavoidably real. His present day well being care specialist is probable giving him the therapy that has the finest expectancy of fulfillment. You sound like you do not think his doctor is giving him the great a threat ... or perfect therapy, which shows you do not recognize sufficient about this an infection and also you want to envision lots to coach your self. do no longer embarrass your self through accusing the doctor of no longer doing his interest. do not undercut the doctor in besides. you want to do somewhat diagnosis on MRSA. you could to that through google searching for good articles on it. i have accomplished so and a number of my consequences are below. MRSA is extremely drug resistant and they have a procedure medicine to flow via to target to regulate this terrible Saph Aureus an infection. the actual shown reality that he's proof against previous remedies is the norm, no longer the exception. you should share those links inclusive of your nephew's relatives.

well i am a nurse and I really don't think its MRSA bcuz it takes a whole course of antiboitics for the MRSA not to be contagious any more and also it does not go away and comeback like that. They have to do a culture to be sure!!! But still I would tell her if he has MRSA ( EVEN THO HE PROBABLY DOESN'T) That they should probably refrain from coming to the Dinner

Absolutley not, for one thing. It is always contagious. For two, there has to be a culture or a blood test to confirm and third, he would be in the hospital for it. It is a VERY tough thing to fight and they typically want to monitor how the antibiotics are working. My aunt is a nurse and actually got this from a patient, she went through it... and it almost killed her. Very scary stuff!

Sounds like your nephews mother is crying out for attention?

A doctor would have to test for it. I work with a little girl (16 months) who has MSRA, and the infection site is her finger. She's on anti-biotics and the site is constantly being drained.
