My nephews mother likes to "exaggerate" EVERYTHING. now she is saying that her son has MRSA. in her words " he only has it a little bit and is not contagus. they gave him a cream to put on it. came up on his back friday morning and went away friday night, then came back saturday morning on his face and moved to his stomach on saturday night. but he is fine and is still allowed to go to daycare." i'm confused because the she said the dr. did not do a culture or anything basically just looked at his red spot and said it was MRSA and gave him cream, no antibiotics just the cream. does this make since to anybody? they are supose to come over for thanks giving but i dont want my son to catch MRSA and she lies so much i dont know what to do or beleive.

IF A DOCTOR SUPECTS MRSA (methycillin resistant staphylocooccus aureus) THEN THE CHILD WOULD BE IN THE HOSPITAL, NOT WITH A CREAM, WHICH IS USELESS AGAINST REAL MRSA. YOU CANNOT JUST CATCH MRSA. SEE BELOW:

I don't think a physician could definetly say that he does or doesn't have MRSA just by looking at the infection. Normal staph and MRSA do the same things, but MRSA is just more difficult to treat. As far as I know, you have to do cultures to tell the difference.

Also, if he really does have MRSA, there is no way the doctor would have said it wasn't contagious, unless he was a moron. MRSA can be easily spread, and is often spread throughout an entire household before it gets under control.

If it was my child, and I really thougth the other child might have MRSA, I wouldn't want them to be playing together right now.

from the experience of having to deal with this with my 4 kids, my husband and myself/...these things dont pop up, go away and pop up somewhere else within days

This infection starts out looking like a small pimple, and within hours or days it can red (like a big red ring around it) and feel like there is a knot under it. It is also extremely painful. i had one on my knee, and i could barely move my leg muchless walk. The doctor can sometimes look at this infected wound and tell that its staph. My children have gottem them on their behinds and the knot under the skin gets so big from the pressure of the pus inside. When you peel the scab off, pus and blood flood from the wound, and they scream in pain, like nothing I have heard.
It is horribly painful.
If it was mrsa, the doc wouldhave given him an antibiotic. the cream, Bactroban, should be in ointment form and is to be put in the nostrils twice a day since that is where the bacteria colonizes.
today i had a painful antibiotic shot, and two differnt antibiotics, because i have a case of staph in my nose. my nose is red, swollen, and sopainful i can hardley stand it.

well she lied again. the only way a dr would know is if he did a culture. and cream is not what he would prescribe.
