Let's say you are in a situation where every second counts. Do wearing shades or sunglasses protect your eyes from temporary blindness as a result of a military grade flashbang? If not, what are some ways to protect yourself from the bright, instant flash of a flashbang? What are some ways I could imiatate the blinding flash of a flash bang, without having to use actual flash bangs for an experiment?

I'd appreciate your ideas.

not really...no..and the BANG is so high in decibels that it is almost incapacitating, regardless of the FLASH effect...you can just close your eyes and get the same benefit as sunglasses but that bang cant be hidden from, even by sticking your fingers in your ears

The flash is so bright that welding visors won't help you enough. It may slightly suppress the effect, but not enough that it would actually do anything noticable. If you see the grenade, you might have time to hold your eyes shut tight with your arm over them, which will eliminate the blindness, but it's very difficult to do this AND protect your ears at the same time, which is essentially like having a sniper rifle go off right next to your ear.

Because of his shyness. He never liked to really expose his face, just like when he wears the hospital mask. In his book Moonwalk he wrote that he wore the mask to have a little bit of privacy when he went out. So maybe it's the same thing with the sunglasses. I agree with you, his eyes are so beautiful. <3

they wont help, the light is so bright that the shades wont do enough, if you wanted to protect your eyes you could look away or where a welding helmet but you can't see much in those anyway.
