The Marine Corps is different in that every Marine is trained as a rifleman first and then they go onto their other jobs. This has provided us with the lowest casualty rate for major engagement forces in this conflict. The Marine Corps doesnt offer as many perks or bonuses to join because we dont need you but we want you. Just because you enlist does not mean you will graduate boot camp. We dont have stress cards and as a result many guys and girls wash out every year because they simply cant hack it.
I gurantee you though that if you make it through bootcamp and become a Marine you will have a new sense of accomplishment that you wouldnt believe. You will hold your head higher and walk with a swagger that only other Marines can understand.

Each branch has a mission. While they overlap a teeny bit, they are very different.
Within each branch there are variants to the "Mission".
The Navy has Carrier Battle Groups, Boomers, Attack Subs and provide some services for the Marines. Marines are equipped for short term hard charging combat.
The Army has several missions: Heavy Armored and Infantry for long term land engagements. 1st, 22nd ID, 1st AD.
Airborne: 82nd, elements of the 10th and 25th ID, 173rd AB Brigade don't need to ring the door bell.
Air Assault/Air Cav: The 101 and 1st Cav = Air mobile light infantry.
US Army Special Ops Command: SF, 75th Rangers, Delta
Add to that all the Artillery , Aviation, Signal, Ordnance, Admin, Medical etc etc
SSG US Army 73-82

I asked my Marine husband here....
The Army is designed to sustain a defensive position. The Marine Corps is designed to make initial contact with the enemy and push them back to establish a foothold so additional forces can assist in an offensive maneuver.
Marine bases are basically coastal and have fewer bases than the Army.
We have met so many respectable and honorable Marines during his 17 years in the Corps!!!!
Good luck!

Marines have a lower IQ and arent too bright, but they can be made.
Army, simply the best.
Marines can fight with the use of boats and land.
Army can to, but mainly are land units. But you also have the Special Forces, Rangers, 82nd Airborne, 10th Mtn Division, all which have their own type of special training. Army is much bigger then Marines.
