There is a HUGE difference between a tree of knowledge and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. One represents wisdom...the other represents responsibility for our choices. There is a huge difference between ignorance and innocence! He didn't want them to be ignorant, he wanted them to remain innocent! He wanted them to trust that he would faithfully protect them from evil.
I don't want my son to be ignorant...I've done everything in my power to give him the best possible education...but I do want him to remain innocent as long as possible. I want him to trust me when I say something isn't good for him until he learns enough about the world to recognize danger for himself!...heck, I want him to trust me for the rest of his life even after he's old enough to assume responsibility for his own decisions.

Jews do not view the eating of the Fruit of Knowledge as a bad thing, the way that Christians do. And Mormons believe it WAS God's will for Adam and Eve to eat the fruit, so that they could progress and become more like Him.
If God DID want Adam and Eve to be ignorant, then He failed miserably. It brings into question the whole idea that God is all-powerful.

Adam and Eve had to have quite an extensive amount of knowledge if people really considered that they sinned. You cant sin in ignorance.
I dont think Adam and Eve sinned. I think they had total knowledge of the plan of God and that they had to eat that fruit to get the plan rolling. The tree was symbolic to represent the knowledge of good and evil and opposition of all things which would come to the earth when they ate the fruit and it was thrown out of its spiritual state.
We are learning and growing by being in this natural state on earth. It is a very essential part to most of our spiritual developments.
Adam and Eve had this knowledge. They knew the plan. Adam was Gods first prophet. God couldnt really have held it against him, too much. If anyone was ignorant, it was Satan. He fell right into Gods plan.

The Tree of Knowledge signified their independence from God, their choice to do what they want with their lives. That ate it, so they got to run the show (Their lives), and they sucked at it. If Adam was supposed to live forever, his knowledge would keep "going up" forever also. But if he died, he couldn't take in knowledge. So eating the fruit made him stupider, actually.

You misunderstand. It was the tree of knowledge of good and evil. I am sure that if Adam had asked,"Hey! How did you do that?", he would have been given an answer. Distinguishing good from evil implies that you wish to know something other than God.

i don't think he wanted them to be ignorant but he wanted only for them to know the good. i see the moral of the story to be that you cannot have anything bad happen without it changing you in some way. he wanted them to be perfect as any parent wants for their child.have you ever witnessed something you wish you hadn't? There is no way to experience bad without it becoming a part of you. and of course we as humans now have a tendency to pass the bad forward all the more corrupting the line.

i ought to verify which you probably did not get your wisdom from the Bible given which you're amiss. If Adam and Eve replaced into so ignorant as you reported how ought to God supply them this style of tedious job of controlling the earth and naming each creature there on. that would not sound like a fool to me. How ought to they have not prevalent the version between good and evil, whilst Eve advised the serpent that God advised them to not touch the fruit because of the fact the day that they do they're going to truly die. yet whilst Eve believed the serpent as a replace of God and carried the fruit to Adam to flavor, he rebuked her and pronounced "No, we ought to continuously not consume of the fruit. because of the fact the day that we consume we would fairly die" Is the pronounced fact that Eve advised the serpent. (examine Genesis for your self). not something wasn't incorrect with the tree of wisdom, that replaced right into a attempt of their loose will. each genuine discern attempt their little ones now and returned, via asserting, do not try this or do this or touch this. not something, many of the time is extremely incorrect with the regulations, yet there are outcomes at the back of them. And that replaced into so with Adam and Eve. They weren't silly, they have been harmless. Like infants are harmless, they don't look to be silly. No baby is conscious worry or prejudice or hate, those are taught. Adam and Eve knew and understood extremely nicely the ends up of their movements, because of the fact whilst Eve took the fruit to Adam he protested. in the event that they did not understand why did he protested her movements, he replaced into created with loose will to compliment to consume of it at his very own threat. Adam replaced into between the main sensible guy ever created. God created this guy and place him in a backyard via himself with basically animals and none of his style and tell this guy to call each and each animal via himself. Does that sound like a fool to you? in that case you should supply me the definition of sensible. the place ever you got your bit from, you probably did not do any decrease back up study, given which you're sounding so everywhere that is not humorous. Do your place paintings and are available decrease back. you're lacking miserably.

Actually, there are some commentators that say if they would have waited until the next day that they would have been permitted to eat from the tree.
So according to that view their transgression was that they did not wait.
