I can't believe how much money is left by some tooth fairies!
A child is between 4-7 when (s)he looses a first tooth. At this age, a child has no concept of how much money is worth; therefore:
more physical items equals more.
A child will think that 2 dimes is more than 1 dollar bill. Getting a ten dollar bill is exciting, but you may have to explain that ten dollars is enough to buy 1 barbie doll or 1 transformer.
Obviously, as a child gets older, then (s)he'll realize that $10 is more than 10 cents.
It basically boils down to what the parents feel comfortable giving. A child will be happy with whatever amount is left.
As a reminder, try to be consistent, because a large sum will spur expectations of equally large sums for other teeth.

It depends, if it's the first tooth I would leave more. But, mainly, it's whatever you can afford to give. I gave 5 for the first and 1 for every one there after. Children don't really know the value of money, they will be just as happy with 1 dollar rather than ten. The are just excited that the tooth fairy did indeed visit.!! Good luck!

Depends. I remember when I was a kid a got a couple quarters, sometimes a dollar if I was lucky. But I was always happy with whatever. Depending on the age, kids don't really know the value of money. You could give them a choice of 5 nickles or 2 quarters and they will want the 5 nickles because they know 5 is more than 2.
I would say if its a first tooth a couple of dollars but after that no more than $1. Kids are happy with having any money no matter the amount.

I got $1.25 for each and every tooth I ever lost, and I was a happy kid.
I think $10 is ENTIRELY too much...but then again I'm 20 and don't know what I'm talking about anymore :P
I'd say with inflation that the tooth fairy has to keep up with (LOL) you could probably go with 2-5 bucks per tooth.
Good luck

My step daughter got $5 for her first tooth, and $10 for her second. Tooth fairy left a note too telling her to make sure she keeps brushing so she can keep her teeth healthy and maybe get more money when she looses the next tooth. My step daughter hasn't faught with me once about brushing her teeth sence!! She said "I'm going to brush all the time so my teeth will be so healthy and pretty that maybe next time I'll get $50 dollars!!" lol So cute, but I don't think the tooth fairy will be puttin out that much dough anytime soon! lol

Who knows...some kids get $20.00 others get 50 cents per tooth. I think it just depends. Maybe let it go on the size of the tooth. Bigger the tooth (like one of the front two, molars, etc.)...more money. The Tooth Fairy pays more for bigger items...just like everyone else!
