I strictly believe in the bible, nothing more, nothing less. I used to worry alot about this verse when I was younger. Not as much now. But it still crosses my mind sometimes. I've heard alot of opinions about it. Now I'm asking you.
I don't have where it is in the Bible but its the verse that talks about the unforgivable sin, blasphmey of the Holy Spirit.
What do you think it is?
How do you know if you have done it?
Any thoughts about it would help alot. I'm not sure also what to tell my non-believing friends about it.
Thank you.

Mat 12:31 Therefore I say unto you, Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men; but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.
Mat 12:32 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whosoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in that which is to come.

If you read the context of this passage, Jesus was accused of casting out demons by the power of Satan.

Mat 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This man doth not cast out demons, but by Beelzebub the prince of the demons.
Mat 12:25 And knowing their thoughts he said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
Mat 12:26 and if Satan casteth out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand?
Mat 12:27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.
Mat 12:28 But if I by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then is the kingdom of God come upon you.

That is what is considered blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, ascribing the works of God to Satan. In essence, giving Satan the glory due to God. If you are believer, don't concern yourself with it, you haven't done it, and doubt you could if you are indwelt with the Spirit.

Hebrews 6:4,5,6 is the Unpardonable Sin.

Blasphemy of The Holy Spirit is Different.

Two Ways to Commit it.
1. You never get Saved, Born-Again (you Resisted The Holy Spirit when HE was Trying to Give you Chances to get Born-Again.

2. You Speak Against The Holy Spirits Operation in the Earth---this won't be Forgiven in This World or the One to Come BUT will be Forgiven in the One After Those.

In the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, Jesus has commenced His public ministry. Already the scribes and Pharisees have opposed themselves to Jesus (see, for example, Mark 3:1-6). Since they cannot deny the miracles He has performed, they must somehow explain them. They attribute His miracles to the power of Beelzebub, rather than to the Holy Spirit. In so doing, they blaspheme the Holy Spirit, the one unpardonable sin: “I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies people may speak will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. They are liable for an eternal sin (because they said, ‘He has an unclean spirit’)” (Mark 3:28-30).

In the third chapter of Mark’s Gospel, our Lord’s miraculous works were attributed by His opponents to the power of Satan (verse 22). Our Lord responded sternly by calling this accusation blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, and as such was the one unpardonable sin (verses 28-30). From this point on, Jesus began to speak to the crowds in parables in order to veil or conceal the gospel from those who had blasphemed the Holy Spirit (Mark 4)

According to Merriam - Webster dictionary the word "blasphemy" means "the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God; the act of claiming the attributes of deity; irreverence toward something considered sacred."

The Bible says in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (NIV) This verse, and many others that speak of God's forgiveness, seem to be in contrast with Mark 3:29 and this concept of an unforgivable sin. So what constitutes blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, the eternal sin that can never be forgiven?

I believe, the only unforgivable sin is the rejection of Jesus Christ's offer of salvation, His free gift of eternal life, and thus, His forgiveness from sin. If you don't accept His gift, you cannot be forgiven. If you deny the Holy Spirit's entrance into your life, to work His sanctification in you, you cannot be cleansed from unrighteousness. Perhaps this is too simple an explanation, but it is the one that makes the most sense to me in light of the Scriptures.

Therefore, "blasphemy against the Holy Ghost" can be understood as a continued and persistently stubborn rejection of the gospel of salvation. This would be an "unpardonable sin" because as long as a person remains in unbelief, he voluntarily excludes himself from forgiveness of sin.

It helps to look at the circumstances that prompted Jesus to utter those words. In Matthew 12, Jesus cast out a demon from a man. The Pharisees accused Jesus of having a demonic spirit--in effect, Satan was using Jesus to cast out the demon.

Jesus revealed the flaw in their reasoning in 12:25-26, saying that if Satan is casting out his own demons, then his kingdom cannot stand.

Then Jesus tells them in verse 31, "but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men." So the blasphemy is where one sees miraculous manifestations by the Holy Spirit and attributes it to Satan.

Have you seen the work of the Spirit and accused someone of being in league with the Devil? Most atheists have not, and so they cannot commit this crime (they don't believe in God working miracles, so they claim they have not happened at all, or that there is a natural explanation for them. They don't say that a Devil worked them.)

If you care about Jesus and know how He works, you'll find it hard to commit this sin, for you'll be grateful for His work, not against it.

there's no. They "write" him into the Torah. They see him the place he would not exist. Rabbi Tovia Singer has it down pat. He provides lectures on how Jesus is written into the Torah and then of course you have mistranslations. I as quickly as had somebody say "Its on the beginning up whilst he suggested "enable us to make guy..." he develop into chatting with Jesus". Now come on, that's a sizable stretch. there are countless places the place it rather is of course not Jesus that those get skipped over. I additionally see that throughout the time of basic terms some actual gave verses besides. I won't take a little time to assert what those verses incredibly mean with the aid of fact it might in all probability be a waste of my time and capacity (and you suggested you does not examine huge solutions and that i've got a bent to drone on and on LOL)

It's blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. I think it's like when you know something is of the Holy Spirit and you willfully and knowingly attribute it to Satan.

If you had comitted this sin it would not be a worry to you. God would not be dealing with you.

In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, I think only a Christian or one who was a Christian can truly blaspheme. I think in order to blaspheme you have to have knowledge of the Holy Spirit. That being said what I think blasphemy is, is denying the power of the Holy Spirit intentionally once you know it to be true. I do not think you can blaspheme in ignorance.

If you believe, and backslide, and deny the saving power of Christ, this is blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

That means that God cannot forgive those who do not want to be forgiven. Basically - if you refuse to ask His mercy, He respects your free will and because of this cannot forgive you...As long as you care when you do something wrong, there is no reason to fear this sin...
