How do I train my dog from sleeping on the couch?

She likes it, I dont know why, but she does. She has a comfortable bed in the living room but she rather be on the couch, lol.

Teach her an 'off' command. And just don't allow her on it. If she does jumps up there, get right to her tell her off. If you leave the house she should be crated or confined to a room, without furniture. Remember too...you can't let her do it sometimes and not others..or let her sleep on the bed but expect her not to sleep on the couch. it shouldn't take long. I trained my dog...who slept on the couch for 3 years not to get on the furniture anymore, it took 3 days and a bunch of 'offs' but he got it. And now 3 years later he never tried to get on the furniture.

Of course she likes it !!! It's a comfortable place to be and all the leaders of the pack (the humans) get that spot !!! But you can always teach a dog new tricks...I trained my dog to not get on the new couch. I used pieces of aluminum foil to deter him....it's inexpensive and he didn't like the it felt or sounded. After a few weeks of consistency, he knows not to go on the couch.

im sure you can keep her off when your around but to keep her off when your gone put some crinkly sounding paper under the cushions or even tinfoil spread out on top of them. dogs do not like the noise it makes when they get on the couch and will eventually keep a distance from it. A friend of mine tried it awhile ago and it did work. it worked on her cat too!
