they are both with Hendrick's, and both use the same mechanic's, engine people, etc. Johnson's car always has more speed. Why not Gordon's? Gordon has got to have the slowest of all the Hendrick's cars. Is it the car, or is it Gordon's laid back attitude with his driving? I can't believe he just gives up with a race to go. If you want it...one fights it to the end.The fat lady has not sung yet.

They are still separate teams, even if they have the same owner. Each crew chief has different ways of doing things. Each driver has unique preferences as well. They do share some information, but not all their "secrets". What works best for one team may not be the best for the other.

The 24 and 48 teams are housed in the same building in the HMS complex. The same mechanics build both race cars, and they engines are supplied by Hendrick Engines so they are comparable as well. The difference is in the setups as Gordon and Johnson have different driving styles. They share information very openly, but a setup on the 48 that works well for Johnson may not work for Gordon as it might not fit his driving style.

And Gordon's point of saying its over is that the only way he has a shot at the championship is if the 48 has a failure or gets involved in a wreck. Jeff said he'll take the trophy and the check, but he doesnt want to win the title that way. He wanted to win it by beating out Johnson, but the 48 team has spanked everyone the past four weeks.

Each driver has his own driving style and like different set ups on the car. Some drivers (Tony Stewart and Clint Bowyer for example), like their cars to be a little more loose.

Jeff Gordon has a style that is more laid back. But I think it has served him well. Jimmy has more of an "in your face" driving styale and that too has served him well.

This is Jimmie's championship to loose. Sunday should be very entertaining to watch!

Gordon has won more Poles than Johnson so he isnt Slow this year he has 10 poles this more than Johnson. But it is the Difference in their driving Styles. After qualifying Johnsons crew chief can put his car back in race trim Better than Gordons crew Chief. Then Gordon has to make adjustments all race long!!!!!! This is on NON Impound Races of course.

They have the same engines. The cars are built the same but different mechanics assemble the cars and suspensions and make sure all is perfect. Each driver has preferences as to how the car handles so the final adjustments are different. springs and shocks are decided by the crew chiefs. Crew chiefs have their own touches they put on the car.

I don't think it's possible to tell if the current difference is the drivers or the crew chiefs/cars.

Not all drivers and teammates find themselves comfortable running the same or even close to the same set-ups. Each driver finds a set-up that works for them and the way that they like to run their car. Just because something works for Jimmie doesn't mean that it will work for Jeff because they are two different people and they each like their car to feel a certain way to make it that much easier to drive even when the car is 'bad'. I remember when Jeremy Mayfield was still running the 19, he didn't run the same set-up that Kasey and Scott were running nor did he share information with them. When Elliott took over the 19, he was running pretty close to even the exact same set-up and he shared information with Kasey & Scott and they tried to help one another out.

It just goes to show you that it's not the car but the person driving it. You can have the fastest car on the track, but unless you know how to drive it you ain't goin nowhere. I am a Gordon fan and it upset me a little to hear him already concede the championship to Jimmie. Anything can happen, and if Jimmie finishes worse than 18th the championship is Gordons. As long as Gordon finishes ahead of him.

They are two different drivers, each with a different crew chief. They have different driving styles wich requires different set-ups.
Casey Mears' actually seems to be the slowest of the Hendrick cars.
