On the contrary, when man ate the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil - he does not know what to do with that knowledge because of his innocence; and he does not have the capacity nor the strength to handle the power of such knowledge becasue he has yet to eat the fruit from the Tree of Life. That knowledge ony brought him into depravity.
The Ten Commandments, plus other laws in the Old Testament was given to man so that it will open their eyes to their depravity, their weaknesses, and their need for a savior. Paul said that in Romans 3:20 "For no one is put right in god's sight by doing what the Law requires; what the Law does is to make man know that he has sinned."

In the beginning, everything in the garden was good--including that tree. I'm not sure there was anything unusual about the tree of knowledge aside from the fact that God told us not to eat from it. But God wanted us to choose him out of free will, and such a choice demands an alternative. The tree existed to give us a chance not to choose God. We learned about good and evil in the sense that we immediately recognized the evil of what we'd just done, and understood how good we'd had it before that by contrast.
You're right about the ten commandments--we did already know all of that, at least on some level. But we're a legalistic species. We want to know exactly what's expected of us all the time down to the most minute detail. So it wasn't enough for God to say, "Just love each other, boneheads." He actually had to keep defining what he meant by that over and over and over again ad nauseam ad infinitum.

I am no expert on this, but I believe it was from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. It meant, man was exposed to the option of wickedness or sin.
The ten commandments were given as a standard of part of the law on how to live. These were a result of man knowing evil. However, It is impossible to keep all ten commandments throughout life. This is why Jesus Christ's death and resurrection is so significant. Even though we are all sinful, it is Christ's redemptive work on the cross that recovers us.
These are just some thoughts from a Christian.

The tern Commandments of God are the laws made by God which was addressed to the people of Isarael because at that time the poeople have forgotten God . The have been doing what they wanted to do without realizing that there is God who created them.
Man know wht is right and what is wrong yet they are more determined to do the wrong way, so rules or commandments as made by God but still man is really inclined to do bad things which is against God.

When Adam was in the garden he only had ONE commandment, dont eat of THAT tree over there! But we couldn't even keep that one. When Moses led the Isrealite people out of egypt they were following God, but not long out they wanted to turn back, then God saved them from the Egyption armies at the red sea. When they came to mount sinai they were boastful and said they would do whatever God wanted them to do, So God gave them the 10 commandments, which he knew they couldn't keep and a set of sacrifices to follow when they didn't keep em.
The reason the law was given is simple, to point towards a saviour. even in the old testament, the people were looking forward to the day God would send HIS perfect sacrifice to do away with thier sins totally and set up his kingdom with man. They had FAITH in the one that was to come. For people today and since Jesus died on the cross, the law has but one purpose, to point us to Jesus. We cannot keep the law, The Bible says if we offend in just one point of it, we are guilty of all of it. Once a person understands that they have sinned and broken God's laws, they become a candidate for salvation. In both times OT and NT the way to salvation was thru faith, Ot looking ahead to the one who was to come, NT looking back on the one who came.

if man didnt eat from the tree then we would not have a need of the ten commandments since we have knowledge it tells us right from wrong but we also have free will which means we can still do wrong but if man would never of eaten from the tree then we would be under direct guidance of god because he was the knowledge we had.

In my opinion, the allegory is that eating of the fruit of the tree of knowledge is our attachment to desire. It is the mother of all sins. Where "eating" or biting into is attachment to desire, the desire to have what we like, to keep what we like and to be rid of what we don't like. "Fruit" means the result, the result of "knowledge" or action. If we are obsessed with something we don't have, we may develop envy, the desire to steal or rob. Such negative thoughts and sins as fear, greed ets. all come from the mother of all sins. This is internal. The Ten Commandments can have no more meaning than our ability to control ourselves.

The Ten Commandments are spelled out in order to reveal to man just exactly how depraved he really is.
They show us that we absolutely cannot keep the Law and are in need of a Savior.
That is their purpose.
That Savior is Jesus Christ!

To keep everyone on the straight and narrow..........Learning about good and evil is one thing, but applying that to our everyday lives is very challenging, so having our list of the ten commandments on our fridge reminds us to do the right thing all the time........
