Fair is a relative term. There's not much fair about being on the low end of the totem pole. Anyway, you left some things out. If you were still on "probation" or a trial, you probably couldn't expect any better treatment. I am a supervisor, and I HAVE to know if you aren't going to be in to fulfill your job duties. Phoning in lets me know I have to make other arrangements. You can't be fired for being sick, but you compounded it by not calling in. If you have a part to play on a team, and you are not there without warning, you can affect a companies profit negatively (whereas they need you there to make money for them.
Sorry you had to learn it like that, but fair doesn't necessarily have to come in to it.
By the way, you might be better off in a different job anyway, requiring a teenager to work 12 hour shifts seems a little harsh.

It is called "no call, no show" firing.

Yes it is fair.

When you miss school, you have to call them, why would you think you didn't?

Don't be depressed, just live and learn. You'll find a new job eventually.

When you say, "I'm only a teenager", I hope you mean 18 or 19 and graduated from high school.

You just didn't show up for work and didn't even call, and were surprised when they fired you? Kind of naive, aren't you? Well, at least you learned something.

Yes of course it's fair. If you just didn't show up for work, you'd be fired from almost any job.

I'm wondering if working you 12 hours a day was legal.
