Normal pitbulls are not people aggressive unless trained to be these dogs were bred for thousand of years not to bite people !
ok pit bulls are supposed to be dog aggressive not people aggressive - as with most male dogs when they hit the age of 2 or around there they become a "man" wanting to be dominate over other dogs - my pit bull is only male dog aggressive - females he is fine with - people - as long as i let you in my house and your not outside trying to get in my house ( as with my other dogs ) he is such a sweet dog - pitbulls have been bred to be dog aggressive - stupid people that know the strength of a pitbull buy them as gaurd dogs - and train them to be people aggressive -then decide to backyard breed _ a pitbull will be the best at whatever you want him/her to be - they never stop trying to please their owners - whether you train them to fight other dogs, to be a watch dog, to be a friend, to play games, to be a work dog - what ever you train them to be they will be - they love people - as with all dogs you must socialize them when they are young - and male on male aggression can be trained out if started early -
another thing people who want to buy pitbulls must understand - they are very protective - if you are planning on haveing kids soon a pitbull is not for you - if you already have kids a pitbull is fine - if you are a single person and will have another person in your life to move in with you this person will not have the pits respect that you have -as with if you have a pit and plan on having kids in the next two years - dont get a pitbull- the pit will not consider them part of the family they were not there when the pitbull came to live with you- to them they are an outsider - as with a lot of dogs - but in this breed ecspecially -

haha..well pit bulls are extremely people sweet and very goofy. They are great with kids because they can withstand a lot of the tugging of ears and pulling on tails that children tend to do.
Now pit bulls were bred to be fighting dogs thus the tendency for them to be dog aggressive. You want to get one as a puppy and make sure he gets POSITIVE social interaction when he is young. You should also do training classes ( I suggest positive reinforcement which may or may not work for that breed).
So though this is not a direct answer to your question the best I can Say is pit bulls of any kind are a handful. I suggest looking up a company called canine culture which is run by a very good dog trainer Alison smith. She even does pre-adoption consultations where she will go over things that are necessary for you to have, what you are getting yourself into with that breed and a lot of other very useful important info!
Good luck!!!

I own a Beautiful, gentle Pit Bull, and I really think it's all the idiot owners out there who have given this breed a bad name.I worked with my Petey until he became the dog he is-happy,crazy,and well behaved. If in doubt try a Pet Class, and do some reading or research on the Web for how to properly train a dog, that's what I did.The biggest thing I can tell you is that you must establish that you are the boss, immediately,or no dog will behave for you.

they are actually not aggressive in any respect, its what the proprietors cause them to. they are unswerving and truly loving canines, proprietors take earnings of this and use them for unlawful activities which incorporate dogs scuffling with which could later bring about aggression because it somewhat is what they are knowledgeable for. continually keep in mind that, its in no way the dogs its the owner, i advise each now and returned definite it might desire to no longer be their proprietors fault yet there is mostly a underlying reason on why the form exceeded off. So it doesnt make a distinction which pit bull breed it somewhat is, what concerns is who has owned them and how they have been knowledgeable and reported. yet while knowledgeable properly all pit bulls are an surprisingly rewarding dogs which could assure quite some affection and affection. Chiauaua's chew and attack human beings yet you dont see them interior the media do you, oh no only through fact they provide the impact of being candy and harmless doesnt advise they are, i advise dont get me incorrect they're a good looking dogs yet they are dealt with like a doll so as that they escape with each thing which leads to undesirable behaviour. Edit:i'm appalled on the quantity of comments saying get a various breed, it isnt the dogs in any respect. it somewhat is what the media has made them and it somewhat is disgraceful.

I agree that how we raise an animal affects their personality and temperment. Whether it be a Chihuahua or a Mastiff, if a dog isn't well socialized or trained correctly it can become aggressive. Let me tell you I work with dogs every day and some of the meanest are the little ones because thieir owners spoil them. Try looking into the American Bull dog they have simular body type of the Pit Bull terrior but can be more docile.

No pitbull is more aggressive that the other nor are they more aggressive than any other breed if brought up correctly. If you are thinking of getting a dog consider how much time you will spend with it, the area it has and how much time you can use looking after it. I have a red nose and he the most beautiful dog ever. My fiancee has an american staff and they get along perfectly. Both of these breeds are pretty easy to look after as long as you feed them the right food, exercise them regulary adn take them to the vet for regular check ups and vaccinations.

'Normal' pit bulls are not aggressive. There are millions of pit bulls in the US and it is only now and then you hear of a bad egg. And then, it isn't the dog, but the owner's fault. Look up the number one biting breed and it isn't pit bull, it is poodle. But they don't cause as much damage. I have pits myself and they wouldn't hurt a fly. It is how you train them. Use Cesar Millan's method and also do spay/neuter and you will find them to be social loving easily trainable dogs. ANY dog kept on a chain is going to be a lot more aggressive, so keep that in mind and don't do it.

it is all depends on if you take the time to train him right... i have met some very friendly pit bulls and very gentle to a baby and some very aggressive ones and i can see why in the type of people that own them.
ask to see the puppies parents they are a sure way to see what kind of dog yours might turn out to be.
If you have no time to train then i would not suggest this breed they need a lot of attention.

No. Just like any other breed, there's a range of more dominant and less dominant individuals.
However, the American PIt Bull Terrier is not as aggressive or dangerous as the media likes to portray them. If you like the breed, research it to see if you're a good fit. If so, get one from a good breeder or the animal shelter.
American Pit Bull Terriers were bred to please their owner and go all out. This means that they can make the absolute best pet, family dog, therapy dog or search and rescue dog (etc.). Unfortunately, this tendency also makes them an easier breed to choose for dog fighting, since they'll do anything to please their owner.
Please watch this video. These are the "average" pit bulls, not some "special breed" of pit bull: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdY9Z5ub9xw
Good luck!

It also has to do with the pups parents my 2 yr old pitt's parents and grand parents were fighting dogs. my dog was a rescue. He has been through training classes since a pup and still has a little aggression towards other dogs especially other pitts. I think a lot of it has to do with the energy that people portray, the dog picks up on it. Like if you say "oh **** theres a pittbull watch out" hes gonna know your energy is scared. Ive heard that stafordshire terriers are made for family.
