Now the US is the ocupation force in Iraq

Is it time to apologise to Russia for all the critial comments since the US has now done what the Russians did ?

How is the US any different than any other occupation force - Commuist Russia and Facist Germany

Is this the moral high ground all had hoped for from the US ?

It is very upsetting. I love my country and hope the voters get a brain someday soon...but most of them will vote for the more "popular" person...not the smartest or the best. Sad.

I find the justification of we are dealing with a freely elected government in Iraq is down right insulting.
The United States invaded Iraq due to cherry picked intelligence. They then deposed the legal govt of Iraq and set up a puppet state.
The Russians when they invaded Afghanistan did so at the behest of their duly appointed govt and were sanctioned by the west for the invasion.
It was at this time that the US govt decided that supporting the Taliban was a good idea.
What is happening is simple, the US govt is acting like the big bully in the play ground because they are the " worlds only SUPERPOWER"
Of course this is the moral high ground. Hitler thought he had the moral high ground, So did Stalin.
Evil people rarely think they are evil.

You can not be an occupation army in a country that has a freely elected government in place. Iraq has a government freely elected by the Iraqi people. The Iraqi government has asked the US military to stay in Iraq to help with their security. That is completely different than the military occupation of a country. You should pay more attention to what is going on before you spout off.

P.S. For all those who think the government of Iraq is a US puppet regime. If they were a puppet they would do what ever we told them to do. Our military is making great progress on the security In Iraq but unfortunately the government is having difficulty making political reconciliation among the different groups. If they were a puppet regime we would just tell them what to do. It is obvious that is not the case. Now that security is better it appears this reconciliation will come from the ground up as the people start to demand more of their government. That is how democracy works.

come on trout, get real. there were occupying forces on both side of the berlin war. all those years. in japan as well. in korea. in cuba. the middle east. we are not on those lines by any invitation.

that moral high ground? illussion. propaganda. guess what? nice people don't rule countries, they bake cookies. they work in daycare centers, schools, and hospitals. they care about other people. they don't bomb innocent women and children in a thirst for power.

namaste.

We never occupied Russia, but my Grandfather enjoyed occupying Fascist Germany. Occupation duty of Imperial Japan was supposed to be pretty good too.

In your mind a temporary counterinsurgency/reconstruction occupation is morally equivalent to a permanent colonial/imperial occupation?

What separates the U.S. from the rest of the world is that our nation is run by a bunch of criminal gangsters and America has long had a love affair with criminal gangsters. They can seemingly committ any crimes they wish, even against our own public and with the evidence in plane view for all to see, and they walk free. About a quarter of the American public consists of real-life Archie Bunkers in that they are victims of a right-wing ruling elite while at the same time cheering for that elite.

Why do you post these question just to annoy americans?

Well we occupied Iraq freeing them from communism and torture and death. The Soviets occupied eastern Europe and turned them communist. There is a diference

The comparison of life under the iron fist of communism with the freedom that America has historically spread is fallacious.

Your parents should send you to a private school so you can learn some gratitude.
