I am looking to buy my first electric. I've played my acoustic for a while now, so I don't really want to call myself a beginner, but you get the point.
I'm looking for a guitar that is affordable, but still has a good tone. To define that, I want a tone that resembles the full, "crunch" sounds played by Green Day, the Ramones, and other bands along those lines.
Right now, my top choice is an Epiphone Les Paul Junior. Is this a good guitar for someone who is starting out on the electric?

I would reccomend the Les Paul Standard.
I just purchased the Epiphone Les Paul Standard from musiciansfriend.com and I absolutly love it. Reviews of the Junior and Special models were not very convincing to me and everyone was raving about the Standard. I started playing acoustic guitar about 6 months ago and decided to purchase an electric last week. While I am a begginer, my younger brother is a musical phenom and can play anything with strings very well (sticks with electric and upright bass though) and he was simply amazed at how many different sounds could be produced from one guitar and said the quality of the guitar was not far off from his friend's Gibson Les Paul!

Yup- the Epiphone les paul will serve you well for starting out. When you get proficient go all the way and get the Gibson though. Well worth every penny!
