My school is holding a trip to D.C. in February, and i really really wanted to go, especially since i didn't go to the last trip to Philadelphia last year. I'm a straight A student, and even though i can be moody sometimes (as a teen) i don't do anything really wrong. But, we went to a meeting about it last night, and my mom heard its $249, and now she's saying "i don't know" and stuff.... translation, 'no, probably not.' because of the cost issue, and that we might be going on vacation sometime after that. She also doesn't like the fact it's in the winter. It would be really fun, like all my friends are going, how do i convince them that they shouldn't pass up on this once-in-a-lifetime chance?

It isn't a once in a lifetime chance, you can go to Washington at any time. It will be there. Besides if she truely cannot afford it, then you should suggested forgoing any x-mas presents in exchange for the trip. How about no x-mas presents and helping contribute to the cost.

Winter is a bad time to go, and if your mom doesnt have the money because it will wipe out your vacation, then realize, D.C. will probably be there when you get older and you and your best friends can go without chaperones then.

Maybe you could tell them you want to help pay for the trip by working. You could babysit, pet sit, for a friend or neighbor, or even help around the house at home and your mom could pay you. Tell her how much it would mean to you, and DON"T say that "all the other kids are going" or "all my friends are going" becuase parents hate that. Just tell her how much YOU want to go, and why you want to go.

Leave out the part that there will be "guys" use all your girl friends, be sure to talk about how it will help your future. Also, use big words. It shows your mom your mature ebough for the trip. And always use your "innocent daughter" look when talking, it gets me takeout sometimes/.

i went through this last year my school had a 1,800$ washington d.c,new york, and philedalphia trip it took a lot of work!
just help your parents more often and tell them it means a lot to you.
try to earn some of the money on your own to make them see you really do wanna go.
:]
good luck

have you ever tried asking? only tell them which you incredibly choose for to circulate to Europe on your senior trip. clarify to them which you already know the hazards of traveling yet which you will possibly continuously stick jointly (with your buddy) and be clever and to blame. Remind them which you're mature and know the thank you to safeguard your self. tell them that it is a stunning cultural adventure and could be very valuable. in the event that they say that a confirm has to circulate, fake which you do no longer care. they only choose for to be there to safeguard you. once you're particularly adversarial to the assumption then tell them the form you experience and say which you will call/e mail daily.

Most probably that your dad and mum can not afford to pay for that trip. and they are giving you excuses. You will have time in the future to go to many trips. Be understanding and pacience.

You have it lucky, my DC trip is 2,000 dollars. Tell your mom you'll pay for half and she can do the rest. Earn the $124.50 by washing cars or babysitting.

I'd let them know that you will work for it. I'd have them set up a list of things to do around the house until you can kinda earn that money.
