I ask this because I hate it when a girl tells me she likes me even when I liked her back it's like it's a turn off to me knowing I can have her anytime I want. And I would think it would be the same for a female if not worst knowing that a guy likes her.

IT makes girls feel good to know that a guy lyks them! and why girls tell guys is because they feel lyk the guy lyks them but that the guy is to afraid to tell them so the girl just goes on and tells!

That's not always true...you cannot have anyone anytime you want just because they once told you that they liked you!Telling someone how you feel is actually better than hurting inside or not ever knowing. To me, it's the right thing to do (well taken or not)...telling someone you like them will give you answers and life goes on...with them or without. Ofcourse, it doesnt mean they will sit around then if you do decide one day that you also want them they will be there, unless you had a relationship before then that's different. It sounds more like insecurity rather than a "turn off" like you put it. You're probably just afraid of women that are that aggressive. Though I am old fashioned, I'm observant and I'd like to think that things are changing every single day which is great. Now, not only men can chase women but women can go for whatever they want. If you don't tell a girl that you like them, they'll never KNOW.
and then when they leave you, because they assume that you don't like them, that'll be your fault.
Also, apparently you're one for the chase: "it's a turn off to me knowing I can have her anytime I want"

hmmm well in my opinion your going to grow old and lonely if you continue to think that way - if everytime a girl tells you she is interested you think she is no longer worth the chase and you dont want to tell a girl your interested - tell me how are you going to get into any relationship?? It's only bad if you told her you liked her after knowing her only a short period of time, well for me anyway. I like it when it takes a while for a guy to like me, I feel like I've earned it, otherwise I don't care if he likes me.

if you two are friends, then yes it is not right. Because if they dont feel the same , you dont want to put them in that type of situation. Been there, done that.

you like a girl who likes to play "hard to get" basically. from my point of view, I think it is harder for guys to ask out girls. though if you like the girl, and you know she likes you back...go for it. it matters on whether you like being with her, not how you got into the relationship.

it depends how you do it. obviously you can do it in a really weird way that turns her off. But if you're genuine, and do it in a non awkward way then it's fine. It all depends on the situation.
