What is the Jewish view of truth and mercy???

Not sure I understand the question so much, but Jews are commanded to be honest and not lie. They're also commanded to have compassion and merciful. There were certain times they were not allowed to be merciful, etc.

For example in the times of the Jewish Kings (e.g. King David, King Solomon) the king was not allowed to be merciful to someone who betrayed him, or tarnished his honor...

Truth is Judaism is made up of individuals too... How they practice it, what they emphasize, etc. That's really all up to them. Here is one of my favorite sites, has a great section on Judaism. http://www.virtualjerusalem.com/

generally speaking the truth is absolute but we use mercy to change the status quo

Is one good without the other ? It's not a contest: competence over competition. Followers are usually individuals as well anyway.
