There is nothing to fear about death. An individual life is the exception of existence. When you die, it will be no different than before you were born....you will not exist. This is precisely why you should make a point of enjoying the one life you have here on earth.
That's my view as an atheist, and why I believe life is so precious....there is nothing after it.
Science can not address the issue because it lies outside the realm of science. Physics could address the state of energy and matter that makes a living thing "tick", but if you are asking about an afterlife, that involves the supernatural. Science deals only with the natural world.

no, you arent an idiot. Science has proven that once you die, a given amount of weight in (ounces)leaves your body. Christians believe that absent from the body is to be in the presence of God- meaning that your soul does live on, and the body remains for wormfood. For those professing christians, who believe that Jesus was the Son of God and that after His crucifiction God rose Him from the dead and confess that with their mouth, the bible says that they will be saved- because your soul has been brought under the shed blood of Jesus. Those who choose not to believe, God judges and sends them to hell, where the fire is never quenched and the worm never dies. People today are way to judgemental of christians- even their own- but understand that the bible also says that we are ALL sinners- and those that go to church are smart enough to realize that they are spiritually sick/ sometimes dead- just waiting for the funeral to happen. But I tell you, the life with Christ is so much better than with out- not to mention the afterlife- it's outta this world!
**to those who dont believe-.... forever is too long to be wrong!
Read Revelation.

It is written in Hebrews 9:27 that it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. You may wonder how the person who wrote this could know for sure what happens after death. The author of Hebrews is a controversial subject in itself. However, if it is Paul as many believe, he himself makes reference elsewhere to being caught up into the 3rd heaven (paradise) and also that he had a thorn in the flesh to keep him from getting to proud from all the revelations he received. So, if anyone is qualified to know for sure, I suspect it would be Paul. I think that the after life is not any different than life. In life it is not what you know but who you know that counts. I suspect the same is true in the after life.

Read the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, Luke 16:19. This tells us what happens after we die for now. This is Hell or Hades in the Greek.
In the future, after Jesus returns, read Revelation 20 to find out what happens to everyone:
Revelation 20
1. Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. 2. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3. and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he
must be released for a short time. 4. Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand;
First resurrection- Those that overcome will be priests during the 1000 years. Others will believe and earn eternal life 1000 years later at the Great White Throne.
and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection.
1000 years- Everyone, including those who have not yet obtained eternal life(rest of the dead), will be in new bodies, most likely with superior brainpower. It will be easier to understand for everyone and prepare for when once again Satan is released to temp the world.
6. Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first
resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.
Satan re-released-some will side with Satan for another Ezekiel 39 showdown.
7. When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, 8. and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. 9. And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the
camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10. And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Great White Throne/second resurrection-Those that participated in the first resurrection have no fear of the second death but others, including those who were non-Christian in the flesh age, will be
judged 1000 years later before the great white throne. They will have an opportunity to choose with their free will and according to their deeds. For them it will not be a second chance, it will be the first chance.
11. Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. 12. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. 13. And
the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.
final hell-Geenna. Some will not obtain eternal life and will perish.
14. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Then we have Revelation 21 - the eternal new heaven and new earth.

I believe in the Bible record. Look at the back of the Bible key words heave and hell. You can choose between those two. I choose heaven.

Dear Friend,
I am not sure what your relationship is with Jesus Christ, but the only way a person is guaranteed into heaven is by agreeing with God that you are a sinner. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins (from your heart), and ask Jesus Christ to come "into" your life to be your Lord and Savior. Which means you were once born physically, but when you ask Jesus into your life, you are born again (spiritually).
John 6:44 says, "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day."
Jesus said in John 3:3 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
I hope that helps.
Sincerely in Christ Jesus,
lostnsavd...

I could tell you what I believe, but since I haven't died yet...I really can't tell you that I know for sure. I don't think anybody can. Sorry. They can only tell you what they believe happens.
