I noticed my peers tend to shy away from me when I get mania. My head gets very dense and then it suddenly happens. I get very enthusiastic, talk fast, my pupils dilate, and write down any good ideas from flying thoughts.

I don't get irritable or violent at all like people think I would.

Do you know any bipolar teens? Would you say people misunderstand what happens to them?

You must understand how this looks to others, that is why they shy away from you.

The better you can control your symptoms, the better you will feel and the less shy people will be. Educating people in a mature and clear way is what you need to do. Talk to them about how you feel when this happens, let them know you are not violent. The better you can explain to them what is happening, and why (that you don't have control over this), the better they can handle it.

Remember this, everyone has something they have to live with, you have this, they have other things. Never let how someone views you devalue who you are as a person. You are valuable and unique. : )

Yes, they are misunderstood and its from lack of education. It's hard, but try to remind yourself that they are missing out on the real you. You could also try to educate them, a couple at a time. They need to know the realities of Bipolar and violence isn't always the big reality, its the ups and downs. Once you get people to understand that, it gets better. I should know, I've been there. Be well.

Yes; I'm bipolar and the majority of my classmates avoided me and my friends thought that I was a crazy *****. None of them knew that I was bipolar though.

You may not get irritable or violent during your mania, but I do. Sometimes I was quiet in class and some girl was trying to make me look like a fool; she was always embarrassing me. For weeks I never said anything because I really didn't care. I was either depressed or in a normal state of mind. But she said the WRONG thing when I was in hypomania mood. I completely exploded. I got all in her face and 'till this day, I do not remember what I said to her. But it was really mean since she cried and left the classroom and told the teacher on me. When I'm like that, I can't control the things that come out of my mouth. It's like a cyclone full of anger and it consumes me.

She's lucky that I didn't try to choke her. I usually grab people by the neck and slam them into walls when I'm pushed to the limit during my mania episodes.

Lesson here, DON'T ******* MESS WITH BIPOLARS. You never know when we will snap on you like that. We cannot control our feelings.

Also, there was a new kid in my class. She only went to my school for four weeks, but she was bipolar too. We clicked instantly. She was quirky and weird like I was. She dressed weird too like myself. People hated her in my class though since she always spoke her opinion in class, and that irritated people since only the "popular" kids were supposed to.

Anywho, a lot of people hated me because they thought that I was cruel. lol. But when they announced that, I usually mocked them if I was in a mania mood.

in case you be attentive to you're bipolar and are taking drugs or getting scientific care (notwithstanding they do for it) then you definately will in all probability be high quality! Plus no person must be attentive to you're bipolar. only save it to your self. i ought to assert in my journey the folk who're bipolar dont gain this nicely. yet you dont ought to persist with of their footsteps. you would be only high quality!!

i am a bipolar teen! you do have some sympthons of being bipolar doesnt mean that you are, alot of teens have the sympthons, but arent bipolar. if you are wondering ask your doctor. but it is hard to diagnose, took almost a year to diagonose mine. but you can look up being bipolar & if u have alot of the sympthons check with ur doctor. but sometimes it isnt. i think teens with bipolar disorder are missunderstood at times with just being a regualr manic teen sometimes.
