Horse drawn carriage rides are very, very romantic. Picnics in the park can be, as well. How about a small boat or canoe on a lake in the moonlight? Is there a formal gardens in your community? Such as on the grounds of a plantation or a museum?
Think organic. Think outdoors. Think moonlight.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

Hi! if you've been friends for some time, she definietely likes you but you can't be sure if she can like you romantically until you ask. "nice & romantic place" means very different things to different people. my girlfriend like japanese food so any restaurant that serves nice jap food is nice to her, so you must know something since you've known her for some time. some people fancy seaside, while others hate the bugs and humidity. Some like candle light dinners while others like nice cosy kind of casual dinning. So you should try to dig out some information from her OR her friends that you know. you are right when you say that you shouldn't come on too fiercely, as she may not be ready for another relationship and also she may really just like you as a friend. the best thing to do now is to be with her and keep her company. however, do note that there is a chance that when she "recovers" she may not accept you, it's a risk that you have to take. If you want some "safety net" then just express your feelings for her and let her know that you can wait. Then it's up to your patience to wait for her to recover. Good Luck!
