What is meant in the Bible by chastisement?

Discipline. Like when God chastens you for doing something you shouldn't have done. But the Bible says that it is a good thing because He is treating you like a son (or daughter).

The Hebrew noun mu‧sar′ and the verb form ya‧sar′ convey the sense of “discipline,” “chastisement,” “correction,” “exhortation.” In the Greek Septuagint and in the Christian Greek Scriptures, the corresponding noun pai‧dei′a and the verb pai‧deu′o have basically the same significance. Drawn from pais, meaning “child,” pai‧dei′a primarily relates to what is needed in bringing up children—discipline, instruction, education, correction, chastisement.

son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it."

Repentance with Allah (right to be forgiven by Allah) is only for those who do something evil in ignorance and repent as soon as they realize it; Allah will pardon them. Allah is the Knowledgeable, Wise.
