My minister was old and boring
There were hardly any other kids there
I hated putting on a dress
Then staining it with grape juice (blood)
Presbyterianism is the most lack luster religion

sorry Daewen but I wouldn't join Catholicism if someone put my legs in metal clamps and tortured me to join. I am open though, you're right about that

Sometime church is boring but let put it this way....

Church is the place where you hear the message. The message is like food cook from the stove. You either eat the food or plop it in the garbage.

I liked it as a kid. Sunday school was really fun. Kids didn't have to be in actual church with the grownups. As I got older, I did not like it. I felt the preacher was wrong in what he was saying and some of the things the congregation did grated on my nerves. Literally. I later found out that TV preachers can give the messages from the Bible just as good or better than the preachers in the church buildings. I listened to preachers until I found one that did not seem wrong or fake. I found one that preaches a message that seems true and goes along with the Bible. I do enjoy that. I was told that I have the gift of discernment and thats why most preachers were not appealing to me. Because they were literally wrong.

My dad was a pastor.
I hated those little girl leather shoes with the buckles.
I hated wearing tights.
I hated wearing a dress.
I hated Easter hats with those little elastics behind your ear.
I hated that my brothers got to wear pants and a sweater.

It all turned out ok, and now I'm in a church that I love. The people are great, and I wear pants and comfy shoes. And I especially think it's a good church because my 5 year old WANTS to go there :-) They must be doing something right.

No, I appreciated and enjoyed going to church as a kid, even though I did not understand it at first. I did get to understand it though, and now I do more than ever, though I will never fully understand it (as no one can...)
However, I am a Catholic, so I cannot relate to Presbyterianism. I am sorry that you had such an unrewarding, dull experience.
I must ask though, are you open to other religions? If so, I would highly recommend that you look into Catholicism.

Nobody hated church more then me, I would do anything to get out of it, even hiding my dads keys. I look back and no doubt that church had no power, no testimony of the Holy Spirit. But what I did get was some Bible teaching, though I didn't care at the time, mercifully The Lord rescued me in due time. Now I'm saved and still cant find that Spirit- led, sanctified church. But Jesus holds on to me still and always will. I love Him more then life.

My church was boring too. I didn't HATE going until about the age of 10, then finally managed to get out of going at all by 14.
I was always fascinated with a Holy Rollers Church that we passed....I had heard their services were fun!

Oh yes! I was forced to go to the Kingdom Hall, Jehovah's Witnesses church, and it was dreadful. They didn't allow for children to play with toys or anything else other than the Witness books. And they expected for you to be quiet and listen to the horribly boring talks. Thankfully my mother wasn't as strict and let me write notes to my sisters. Other children were taken in the bathroom and spanked when they cried or moving or frustrated.

I hated going to the Pentecostal and Charismatic churches I was raised in, but loved visiting my grandparents' Episcopal church.

I love church now but as a kid it was a long time to sit still and much of it was over my head.
I wouldn't say I hated it though.
